Role of the 4-Phosphopantetheinyl Transferase of Trichoderma virens in Secondary Metabolism and Induction of Plant Defense Responses

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2011
Trichoderma virens is a ubiquitous soil fungus successfully used in biological control due to its efficient colonization of plant roots. In fungi, 4-phosphopantetheinyl transferases (PPTases) activate enzymes involved in primary and secondary metabolism.

Antimicrobial and mechanism of antagonistic activity of Bacillus sp. A2 against pathogenic fungus and bacteria: The implication on honey's regulatory mechanism on host's microbiota

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 8, Issue 9, Page 4857-4867, September 2020., 2020
Antimicrobial activity of B. amyloliquefaciens A2 from honey against C. albicans, C. glabrata, E. coli, and S. aureus in vitro. B. amyloliquefaciens A2 from honey induce ROS accumulation, mitochondrial damage, and cell apoptosis in C. albicans.

Double anterior chamber in a patient with glaucoma and microspherophakia

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
We report the case of a 16-year-old woman with microspherophakia and secondary open angle glaucoma. The patient presented with a membrane dividing the anterior chamber into two segments without edema or Descemet′s membrane detachment.

Extensive evolution of cereal ribosome-inactivating proteins translates into unique structural features, activation mechanisms, and physiological roles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) are a class of cytotoxic enzymes that can depurinate rRNAs thereby inhibiting protein translation. Although these proteins have also been detected in bacteria, fungi, and even some insects, they are especially ...

Characterisation of seed marking types in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.): Tiger stripe and other blemishes

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2020., 2020
Abstract Desi chickpea is a significant export crop for Australia; Australia being the largest exporter globally. Visual appearance of the seed is an economically significant measure of seed quality by the Indian subcontinent, the major importer of desi chickpea worldwide.

Unusual presentation in Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
We report an unusual presentation of a case of Axenfeld-Rieger (A-R) syndrome. A 14-year-old male presented with gradual dimness of vision for 1 year and redness of left eye for 3 days. The patient had megalocornea with Haab′s striae in the right eye and

Life Cycles of Myxogastria Stemonitopsis typhina and Stemonitis fusca on Agar Culture

open access: yesJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 66-75, January/February 2020., 2020
Abstract Myxogastria is a group of protozoa characterized by cellular uninucleate amoeboflagellates (myxamoebae and flagellated swarm cell), acellular multinucleate plasmodia, and stationary spore‐bearing sporocarps. The Stemonitales is a large order in the Myxogastria and contains approximately 230 species, but only 13 species have their completed ...

Can we overcome the challenges of sutures in lamellar keratoplasty?

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
Lamellar keratoplasty (LK) is a technique which can be followed for both tectonic and optical purposes. We describe a technique of sutureless anterior LK by fixing the donor lenticule to the recipient bed using fibrin glue.

Kinesin Light Chains Are Essential for Axonal Transport in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Kinesin is a heterotetramer composed of two 115-kD heavy chains and two 58-kD light chains. The microtubule motor activity of kinesin is performed by the heavy chains, but the functions of the light chains are poorly understood.

Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Toxigenic Aspergillus flavus from Groundnut Kernels in Kenya

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Pathogenesis of Aspergillus flavus on important agricultural products is a key concern on human health due to the synthesis and secretion of the hazardous secondary metabolite, aflatoxin. This study identified and further characterized aflatoxigenic A.
