An approach to nonstandard quantum mechanics

open access: yes, 2006
We use nonstandard analysis to formulate quantum mechanics in hyperfinite-dimensional spaces. Self-adjoint operators on hyperfinite-dimensional spaces have complete eigensets, and bound states and continuum states of a Hamiltonian can thus be treated on ...

Assembly of constructible factorization algebras

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract We provide a toolbox of extension, gluing, and assembly techniques for factorization algebras. Using these tools, we fill various gaps in the literature on factorization algebras on stratified manifolds, the main one being that constructible factorization algebras form a sheaf of symmetric monoidal ∞$\infty$‐categories.

Evaluating Allocations of Opportunities

open access: yesInternational Economic Review, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 365-397, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper provides a robust criterion for comparing lists of probability distributions—interpreted as allocations of opportunities—faced by different social groups. We axiomatically argue in favor of comparing those lists of probability distributions on the basis of a uniform—among groups—valuation of their expected utility.

Leadership Skills in Corporate Director Biographies: Substance or Impression Management?

open access: yesCorporate Governance: An International Review, Volume 34, Issue 1, Page 41-70, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Research Issue How objective are corporations' disclosures of their board members' skills? Specifically, how changeable are characterizations of directors as possessing leadership skill in reaction to external pressure? Research Insights We mail letters to a quasi‐randomly selected half of publicly listed US companies, inquiring whether they ...

Dynamic programming in economics on a quantum annealer

open access: yesQuantitative Economics, Volume 17, Issue 1, Page 1-37, January 2026.
We introduce novel algorithms for solving dynamic programming problems in economics on a quantum annealer, a specialized quantum computer used for combinatorial optimization. Quantum annealers begin in a superposition of all states and generate candidate global solutions in milliseconds, regardless of problem size.

Exponential actions defined by vector configurations, Gale duality, and moment‐angle manifolds

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 57, Issue 9, Page 2571-2629, September 2025.
Abstract Exponential actions defined by vector configurations provide a universal framework for several constructions of holomorphic dynamics, non‐Kähler complex geometry, toric geometry and topology. These include leaf spaces of holomorphic foliations, intersections of real and Hermitian quadrics, the quotient construction of simplicial toric ...

Asymptotics of quantum 6j$6j$‐symbols and generalized hyperbolic tetrahedra

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 18, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract We establish the geometry behind the quantum 6j$6j$‐symbols under only the admissibility conditions as in the definition of the Turaev–Viro invariants of 3‐manifolds. As a classification, we show that the 6‐tuples in the quantum 6j$6j$‐symbols give in a precise way to the dihedral angles of (1) a spherical tetrahedron, (2) a generalized ...

Spatial and spatiotemporal volatility models: A review

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 1037-1091, July 2025.
Abstract Spatial and spatiotemporal volatility models are a class of models designed to capture spatial dependence in the volatility of spatial and spatiotemporal data. Spatial dependence in the volatility may arise due to spatial spillovers among locations; that is, in the case of positive spatial dependence, if two locations are in close proximity ...

Classification and statistical analysis of structural disorder in crystalline materials

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 3, Page 659-677, June 2025.
We have developed a new classification system for disorder in crystalline materials based on analysis of the information present in crystallographic information files. By recognizing the role of the proximity of crystallographic sites to each other and the interplay of partial occupancies in creating disorder, we consider seven distinct types of ...

Formalization of Hybrid Systems Models for Port Terminal Management With Considering of Key Performance Indicators

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
New way of formalizing hybrid systems in models for managing the process of vessel unloading gives an ability to improve in sea ports container unloading technology and allow obtaining maximum results in terms of cargo processing speed. Concept of a hybrid control system makes possible to consider those features of the vessels unload process that have ...
