NEITHER/NOR

History and Theory, 2012
ABSTRACTAn Atheism that is Not Humanist Emerges in French Thought examines the advent of antihumanism as a cultural figure out of a network of intellectual crises in interwar and postwar France and ties this advent to the more general consequences of secularization in the modern age.

Methodology for Characterization of NOR-NOR Programmable Logic Array

2008 Second Asia International Conference on Modelling & Simulation (AMS), 2008
Programmable logic arrays are popular implementations for "multi-input" 2-level "multi- output" functions. PLAs are advantageous for designers especially in GHz technology with deep sub-micron sizing. The regular structures of PLAs are attractive to VLSI designers because they require a small number of separate cell designs. PLAs allow "ease of testing"

NOR associations with heterochromatin

Cytogenetics and Cell Genetics, 2008
Associations between nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) and non-acrocentric chromosomes were scored in 2,800 metaphase spreads from PHA-stimulated lymphocyte cultures (48 h) from 14 individuals. The preparations were both silver stained and C-banded.

Routes to 18-nor and 19-nor steroids

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1974
17-Oxo-18-nor-5α,13β-androstan-3β-yl acetate (6) and the 13α-epimer (7) have been synthesized by two routes, both of which involve initially an ?abnormal? Beckmann rearrangement of the oxime of 17-oxo-5α-androstan- 3β-yl acetate to the 13,17-seco nitrile (4). In the shorter but lower- yielding sequence, the mixture of epimeric epoxides obtained from (4)

“Ag-NORs” are not always true NORs: new evidence in mammals

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 2002
In spite of uncertainty about the biochemical processes involved, silver staining is a widely used technique for assessing the locations of active NORs in eukaryotic genomes in general, and in mammalian genomes in particular. However, following a previous study of hedgehog chromosomes, we present here a second example from two gerbil species (Rodentia,

A-nor oxa steroids II. A-nor oxa pregnanes

Steroids, 1970
Abstract The conversion of A-norprogesterone into A-nor oxa steroids bearing a pregnane side chain is described. In this investigation, both C-5 epimers, 3-oxa-5α-A-norpregnane-2, 20-dione and 3-oxa-5β-A-norpregnane-2,20-dione were obtained.

‘Neither–Nor’ Statements and ‘Neither–Nor’ States

History and Philosophy of Logic, 1993
Most claims for the falsification of the Law of the Excluded Middle (LEM) rest on confusion or can be circumvented. A few of them, however, cannot. I concentrate on two of those, (a) cases involving conflicting criteria(border line cases) and (b) cases imposed by quantum discontinuity(no real state admitted between any two consecutive states ...

The food industry is neither friend, nor foe, nor partner

Obesity Reviews, 2013
Almost invariably, discussions and debates regarding the wisdom of public–private partnerships (PPPs) between the food industry and public health are framed by morality and consistency, whereby the question considered is whether or not the food industry is a friend or a foe. The answer is predicated upon the food industry’s ability, or lack thereof, to
