Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina
Advanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC
Advanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Advanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.

A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine
Advanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.
