Analysis of Data-Derived SeaWinds Normalized Radar Cross-Section Noise
Remote Sensing, 2022 The normalized standard deviation (Kp) of the noise that affects scatterometer Normalized Radar Cross-Sections (σ0s) plays a key role in the ocean and more in particular coastal wind retrieval procedures and the a posteriori quality control.

Remote Sensing, 2022 Compared with co-polarized (HH/VV) normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) backscattered from the sea surface, there is no saturation phenomenon in cross-polarized (HV/VH) NRCS when wind speed is greater than about 20 m/s, so cross-polarized synthetic ...

A New Approach for Ocean Surface Wind Speed Retrieval Using Sentinel-1 Dual-Polarized Imagery
Remote Sensing, 2023 A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has the capability to observe ocean surface winds with a high spatial resolution, even under extreme conditions. The purpose of this work was to develop a new method for wind speed retrieval with the combination of SAR ...

A New Method of Ka DBF ATI-SAR for Full Ocean Current Vectors Inversion
IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2022 For applications such as high-precision current velocity field monitoring, Ka-band SAR has an important advantage in baseline configuration, which can be configured with dual antennas or more effective phase centers for a single satellite, forming ...

Doppler Spectrum-Based NRCS Estimation Method for Low-Scattering Areas in Ocean SAR Images
Remote Sensing, 2017 The image intensities of low-backscattering areas in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are often seriously contaminated by the system noise floor and azimuthal ambiguity signal from adjacent high-backscattering areas.

Development of Sea Surface Wind Monitoring System using Marine Radar
한국해양공학회지, 2018 A wave buoy commonly used for measurements in marine environments is very useful for measurements on the sea surface wind and waves. However, it is constantly exposed to external forces such as typhoons and the risk of accidents caused by ships ...
