Analyticity results for the cumulants in a random matrix model

open access: yes, 2014
The generating function of the cumulants in random matrix models, as well as the cumulants themselves, can be expanded as asymptotic (divergent) series indexed by maps. While at fixed genus the sums over maps converge, the sums over genera do not.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Working for the ‘Free’ Market: state complicity in routine corporate harm in the United Kingdom (Trabajando para el mercado “libre”: complicidad estatal en la rutina del daño corporativo en el Reino Unido)

open access: yesCrítica Penal y Poder, 2013
This paper documents two forms of harms which are not ‘dramatic’, in fact, each is very low level, and each represents an instance of routine, normalized forms of harm which emanate from the business sector, and in the production of which the state is ...

Patterns of Pupillary Activity During Binocular Disparity Resolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2018
This study examined the dynamic coordination between disconjugate, vergence eye movements, and pupil size in 52 normal subjects during binocular disparity stimulation in a virtual reality display.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Treatment plan technique and quality for single-isocenter stereotactic ablative radiotherapy of multiple lung lesions with volumetric modulated arc therapy or intensity-modulated radiosurgery

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2015
Purpose: The aim is to provide a practical approach to the planning technique and evaluation of plan quality for the multi-lesion, single-isocenter stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) of the lung.

Demkov-Kunike model for cold atom association: weak interaction regime

open access: yes, 2009
We study the nonlinear mean-field dynamics of molecule formation at coherent photo- and magneto-association of an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate for the case when the external field configuration is defined by the quasi-linear level crossing Demkov ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Procedure Type and Preoperative Patient-Reported Outcome Metrics Predict Variation in the Value of Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation
Purpose: To characterize variation in the value of hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement and explore associations between value and patient-specific demographic characteristics, comorbidities, preoperative patient-reported outcome measures ...
