Infinite groups with many generalized normal subgroups [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Group Theory, 2012
A subgroup $X$ of a group $G$ is almost normal if the index $|G:N_G(X)|$ is finite, while $X$ is nearly normal if it has finite index in the normal closure $X^G$.

On the automorphisms of the non-split Cartan modular curves of prime level

open access: yes, 2015
We study the automorphisms of the non-split Cartan modular curves $X_{ns}(p)$ of prime level $p$. We prove that if $p\geq 37$ all the automorphisms preserve the cusps.

Metahamiltonian groups and related topics [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Group Theory, 2013
A group is called metahamiltonian if all its non-abelian subgroups are normal. This aim of this paper is to provide an updated survey of researches concerning certain classes of generalized metahamiltonian groups, in various contexts, and to prove some ...

Symmetries of the finite Heisenberg group for composite systems

open access: yes, 2010
Symmetries of the finite Heisenberg group represent an important tool for the study of deeper structure of finite-dimensional quantum mechanics. As is well known, these symmetries are properly expressed in terms of certain normalizer.

Computing normal subgroups [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1998 international symposium on Symbolic and algebraic computation, 1998
This note presents a new algorithm for the computation of the set of normal subgroups of a finite group. It is based on lifting via homomorphic images.

Layer-finiteness of Some Groups

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика"
Infinite groups with finiteness conditions for an infinite system of subgroups are studied. Groups with a condition: the normalizer of any non-trivial finite subgroup is a layer-finite group or the normalizer of any non-trivial finite subgroup has a ...

Cyclic Orbit Codes with the Normalizer of a Singer Subgroup [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2015
An algebraic construction for constant dimension subspace codes is called orbit code. It arises as the orbits under the action of a subgroup of the general linear group on subspaces in an ambient space.

Almost all extraspecial p-groups are Swan groups

open access: yes, 1999
Let P be an extraspecial p-group which is neither dihedral of order 8, nor of odd order p^3 and exponent p. Let G be a finite group having P as a Sylow p-subgroup.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

On the Surjectivity of Galois Representations Associated to Elliptic Curves over Number Fields

open access: yes, 2012
Given an elliptic curve $E$ over a number field $K$, the $\ell$-torsion points $E[\ell]$ of $E$ define a Galois representation $\gal(\bar{K}/K) \to \gl_2(\ff_\ell)$. A famous theorem of Serre states that as long as $E$ has no Complex Multiplication (CM),
