Norms Related to the Lie Norm

open access: yesTokyo Journal of Mathematics, 2001
Let \(L(z)=\sqrt{\|z\|^2+\sqrt{\|z\|^4-|\langle z, \bar z\rangle|^2}}\), where \(\langle\;,\;\rangle\) is the standard inner product in \({\mathbb C}^n\) and \(\|\;\|\) the corresponding norm. It is proved that \(\left(L(z)^p+ \left({|\langle z, \bar z\rangle|}\over{L(z)}\right)^p\right)^{1\over p}\) is a norm on \({\mathbb C}^n\) for each \(p\geq 1\).
