Increased Plasma Normetanephrine in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
Clinical and Experimental Hypertension, 1980Plasma catecholamine and total plasma normetanephrine concentrations were determined in 11 spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and in 11 age and sex matched Wistar Kyoto control rats (WKy). Plasma norepinephrine concentration, obtained from tail vein blood of restrained rats, was 356 +/- 67 pg/ml in SHR and 297 +/- 61 in WKy (NS), whereas epinephrine

Enzymatic conversion of metanephrine to normetanephrine

Exercise induces excessive normetanephrine responses in hypertensive diabetic patients
European Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2003AbstractBackground Exaggerated sympathoadrenal function has been accused of contributing to hypertension in type‐2 diabetes. Recently, plasma unconjugated (free) metanephrines were reported to be stable markers of catecholamine hypersecretion. Thus, we aimed to examine whether unconjugated metanephrines are reliable markers of stress response induced ...

Degradation of normetanephrine and norparanephrine in human blood
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1971Abstract Normeta- and norparanephrine disappear at similar rates when incubated with human blood. The simultaneous appearance of noradrenaline demonstrates that at least a part of this degradation is caused by O -demethylation. Human blood seems to contain one or several enzymatic system(s) able to degrade ortho-methoxy phenols specifically.

Quantitative Determination of Metanephrine and Normetanephrine in Urine
1966Details of a fluorometric method for the separate determination of free and conjugated metanephrine and normetanephrine in urine are presented. The procedure consists of: (1) a separation and concentration of free amines by absorption on a column of Dowex-50 resin followed by elution with a small volume of aqueous ammonia; (2) acid hydrolysis of the ...

Intraabdominal pulmonary sequestration presenting with elevated urinary normetanephrine levels
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2009Carrying a prenatal diagnosis of a left-sided intraabdominal mass, a term female newborn underwent postnatal imaging that confirmed a left suprarenal mass. Urinary normetanephrine levels were elevated. Given a preoperative diagnosis of neuroblastoma, the baby underwent an uneventful resection of the mass en bloc with the left adrenal gland.

Conjugated normetanephrine in human and rat plasma and erythrocytes
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1984Enzymatic hydrolysis was applied to the deconjugation of normetanephrine (NMN) in plasma and red blood cell lysate. By this procedure, in human plasma 77% of total NMN circulated in sulfate-conjugated form, while in rat plasma 63% was in glucuronidated form.

A Method for the Determination of Normetanephrine in Brain
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1962AbstractBrain tissue is extracted with perchloric acid. The extract is neutralized and passed through a Dowex 50 column. Elution is performed by means of a carbonate‐bicarbonate buffer, pH 10. Utilizing the principles of the trihydroxyindole method the normetanephrine of the eluate is converted into a strongly fluorescent compound.

Individual patterns of excretion of metanephrine and normetanephrine by children
Biological Psychology, 1974Abstract The excretion of free and conjugated metanephrine and normetanephrine by a group of children was examined for possible diurnal variations over a 48 hr period of collection. Behavioral ratings and intelligence test scores were examined for possible correlations with both the level and variability of each individual's amine excretion ...
