Biochemical characteristics and clinical manifestation of normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism

Endocrine
Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (nPHPT) is a condition characterized by persistently high levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and normal serum calcium levels in the absence of other causes for secondary hyperparathyroidism. The aim of the present study was to assess the clinical presentation and the biochemical characteristics in patients ...

Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism

The American Journal of Medicine, 1969
Abstract In recent years it has become recognized that patients with primary hyperparathyroidism, particularly those with renal stones, may present with serum calcium concentrations that are within the normal range. The three patients described herein all presented with a long history of recurrent renal calculi, normal serum calcium and phosphorus ...

[Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 1995
We have treated 68 cases of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), among which there were 6 cases (1 male, 5 females) whose calcium levels fell within the normal range. However, in all these cases the serum ionized calcium (Ca++) levels and the serum ionized calcium/calcium ratio (Ca++/Ca ratio) were high.

Effects of Parathyroidectomy on Normocalcemic Primary Hyperparathyroidism and the Role of Intraoperative PTH Measurement

The American surgeon, 2021
Background Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (NCpHPT) and normohormonal primary hyperparathyroidism (NHpHPT) are recently recognized variants of primary hyperparathyroidism.

Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism with fractures

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2002
Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism is an uncommon condition usually found among patients with urinary stones. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of a patient with normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism presenting with bilateral femoral neck fracture.

Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism: 99mTc SestaMibi SPECT/CT results compare with hypercalcemic hyperparathyroidism

Clinical Endocrinology, 2021
Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (nPHPT) is defined by an inappropriately increased serum PTH with normal serum calcium. Information about the diagnostic yield of parathyroid SPECT/CT scan and ultrasonography in nHPPT is limited and not ...

Characterization of normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism

The American Journal of Medicine, 2004
The introduction of multichannel serum biochemistry testing in the early 1970s uncovered a large number of patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who were asymptomatic, turning an extremely rare and severe disease into a fairly common and benign condition (1).

Management of normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism

Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2018
Traditional hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrine disease. Patients with a history of nephrolithiasis or a suspected metabolic bone disease are increasingly being identified with elevated PTH concentrations in the setting of consistently normal serum and ionized calcium concentrations.

Temporal Variation of Biochemical Markers and Adenoma Predictors in Normocalcemic Primary Hyperparathyroidism: A Multicenter Retrospective Analysis

Clinical Endocrinology
This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of biochemical markers in normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (nPHPT), analyse their temporal variations, and assess their correlation with adenoma localisation and size.

Normocalcemic Primary Hyperparathyroidism with Osteitis Fibrosa

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1970
Abstract A 62-year-old woman with a 10-year history of repeated pathologic fractures was found at autopsy to have a parathyroid adenoma and osteitis fibrosa.
