Drivers and Patterns of Sediment Organic Carbon in European Regional Seas
Abstract Mapping organic carbon (OC) stores in marine sediments is a management priority to potentially minimize the anthropogenic release of organic carbon from the seabed. Sediment OC content shows high regional variability, shaped by a complex interplay of physical, chemical, biological and anthropogenic factors.

Abstract The post‐collisional evolution of orogenic belts is commonly marked by high‐temperature metamorphism and widespread magmatism, yet the processes linking collision to post‐collisional dynamics remain difficult to reconstruct due to limited exposure of deep‐crustal levels and uncertainties in the determination of pressure‐temperature conditions ...

Vibrio communities shape carbenicillinase diversity in European coasts. Sediments serve as reservoirs of antibiotic‐resistant Vibrio alginolyticus, which can move into the water column and accumulate in bivalves. This spreads β‐lactamase resistance and raises human exposure risks to antibiotic‐resistant pathogenic Vibrio, especially as higher seawater ...

Due to orography-driven dynamics at a (sub-)kilometer scale (e.g., the bora wind) and a complex ocean bathymetry that includes numerous channels, depressions and ridges, the atmosphere-ocean dynamics within the semi-enclosed Adriatic region is not well ...

ABSTRACT Aim The oriental plane tree is a Tertiary relict species with a fragmented range across southeastern Europe and southwestern Asia, forming a key component of riparian forest vegetation. Despite its ecological and cultural importance, the evolutionary history of this tree species has remained unclear, particularly regarding the relative ...

Summary This article analyses the dynamics of Roman olive‐oil and wine production and commerce in present‐day France from the second half of the second century BC to the mid‐fourth century AD, drawing on a corpus of more than 7000 amphorae recovered from Gallic and Romano‐Gallic settlements across the French territory, excluding Alsace. The methodology

A Case of Visceral Leishmaniasis in the Northern Adriatic Region
A 33-year-old male patient with fever, splenomegaly, pancytopenia and lymphocytosis was admitted to the Department of Hematology in Rijeka. Laboratory findings, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy excluded hemoblastosis and aplastic anemia. To exclude primary splenic lymphoma we performed splenic aspiration where Leishmania amastigotes were found.

The Seismic Expression of Core Complex‐Style Extensional Detachment Faults in Rifted Margins
ABSTRACT The identification of core complex‐style extensional detachment faults (CCDFs) in rifted margins is crucial for accurately restoring their stratigraphic and thermal histories. Yet recognising CCDFs in seismic reflection images is challenging due to their faint topographic expression; the lack of associated abrupt offset in seismic reflections;

Revealing the Physiological Patterns of Dinoflagellates in North‐Eastern Adriatic Phytoplankton
The northern Adriatic is a highly dynamic marine ecosystem where multiple environmental stressors, particularly phosphorus limitation, shape phytoplankton communities.

The role of dissolved carbohydrates in the northern Adriatic macroaggregate formation
Total dissolved carbohydrates and their monosaccharide and polysaccharide fractions were studied at a fixed sampling point in the northern Adriatic sea off Pesaro, Italy, in 2001 and 2005 when the macroaggregates were absent...
