Vertical distribution of bacterial abundance in the northwest pacific ocean

Journal of the Oceanographical Society of Japan, 1990
Mixed populations of free-living marine bacteria were collected at depths from the surface to the bottom (1,960m in Suruga Bay and 1,585 m in the Japan Sea) in the northwest Pacific during deep-sea diving by the submersible,Shinkai 2000. Their abundance in total cell counts and in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) concentration was found to decrease with ...

Spatial coherence measurement of sound in the northwest Pacific Ocean

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1993
An experiment on the transverse horizontal spatial coherence of sound propagating in the ocean was performed jointly by Chinese and Russian acousticians in the northwest Pacific Ocean in June 1990. Three hydrophones with spacings of 270 and 130 m were put in the water at a 30-m depth.

The specific features of pollution spread in the northwest Pacific Ocean

Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics, 2012
We present two calculations of pollutant dispersal in the Pacific Ocean: (1) during possible ship-wrecks in the process of spent nuclear fuel transportation from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and (2) pollutant spread from the Japanese coast after the Fukushima-1 nuclear disaster on March 11, 2011.

Stratigraphic framework for the late Pleistocene in the northwest Pacific Ocean

Deep Sea Research Part A. Oceanographic Research Papers, 1982
Abstract Analyses of the relative abundance of Cycladophora davisiana in 10 northwest Pacific deep-sea cores show that the species exhibits abundance variations during the late Pleistocene (≅450,000 years) comparable to those in the subantarctic and North Atlantic. Comparison of the C.

Relationship between cadmium and phosphate in the northwest Pacific Ocean

Journal of the Oceanographical Society of Japan, 1985
The relationship between Cd and PO4 in the Kuroshio and Oyashio regions and the Okhotsk Sea was examined. The resultant equations are as follows: Cd (ng l−1)=37.0 PO4 (μM)+2.6; Cd(ng l−1)=32.1 PO4 (μM)+1.2 and Cd (ng l−1)=34.1 PO4 (μM)+7.9, respectively.

Seismological evidence for the tectonics of the Northwest Pacific Ocean

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1958
Abstract From a series of fault-plane solutions of earthquakes in any one area, it is possible to determine the tectonic displacement of that area by a least squares solution. This method has been applied to the areas marginal to the Northwest Pacific Ocean.

Characterizing infrasonic ocean ambient noise in Northwest Pacific

Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016
The ability of the International Monitoring System (IMS) infrasound network to detect atmospheric explosions and events of interest strongly depends on station specific ambient noise which includes both incoherent wind noise and real coherent infrasonic waves.

Platinum Group Elements in Ferromanganese Crusts of the Northwest Pacific Ocean

Russian Journal of Pacific Geology
A geochemical study of seven ferromanganese (Fe–Mn) crusts dredged from the surface of guyots and near-fault zones in the Kamchatka waters of the Pacific Ocean was carried out: on slopes of seamounts in the Stalemate fault zone, to the west of it and near the Kuril-Kamchatka Trench, as well as on the guyots of the Emperor Chain.

Mid-ocean-ridge basalt of Indian type in the northwest Pacific Ocean basin

Nature Geoscience, 2009
Since 42 million years ago, the northwestern Pacific Izu Bonin arc magmas have incorporated lead from subducted Indian-type oceanic crust. This crust probably formed at a now-extinct spreading centre in the Pacific basin that tapped Indian-type upper mantle, suggesting a greater extent for this mantle domain than accepted at present.

Argo data assimilation in ocean general circulation model of Northwest Pacific Ocean

Ocean Dynamics, 2012
The Argo temperature and salinity profiles in 2005–2009 are assimilated into a coastal ocean general circulation model of the Northwest Pacific Ocean using the ensemble adjustment Kalman filter (EAKF). Three numerical tests, including the control run (CTL) (without data assimilation, which serves as the reference experiment), ensemble free run (EnFR ...
