Kinematics of Nose Landing Gear for RLGS Mechanism of MALE UAV

2021 International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences and Technologies (IBCAST), 2021
Electrical linear actuators reduce the weight of landing gear retraction / extension mechanism which helps in keeping the gross takeoff weight of aircraft weight low. Reduction in weight of the aircraft has manifold advantages in which noticeable are increased endurance, range, climb performance, acceleration performance and fuel efficiency.

Design of a PMSM for the electric steering of the nose landing gear

2016 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM), 2016
This paper is focused on the design of a PMSM for the electric steering of a nose landing gear. The traditional hydraulic steering systems utilized in a nose landing gear are usually based on a rack and pinion solution with two hydraulic pistons at the external sides.

Hopf Bifurcation Analysis of a Nose Landing Gear System of Aircraft

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos
The Hopf bifurcation problem of a nose landing gear system is investigated. Taking the nearly smooth landing gear system with high-order nonlinear terms as the research object, the nose landing gear system is simplified to a plane dynamic system considering nonlinear factors by using the center manifold simplification method.

Conceptual design and linear static analysis of nose landing gear

2015 International Conference on Robotics, Automation, Control and Embedded Systems (RACE), 2015
Landing is one of the most maneuvers occurring in aircraft. Landing gear is considered as a nonlinear structure due to its complicated behavior. In this paper we did linear static analysis of nose landing gear of a subsonic civil transport aircraft. During landing period large amount of impact forces are transferred into nose gear and main landing gear.

Influence of Tire Inflation Pressure on Nose Landing Gear Shimmy

Journal of Aircraft, 2010
This work investigates shimmy oscillations in the nose landing gear of a passenger aircraft and studies how they depend on changes in the tire inflation pressure. To achieve this, a mathematical model of a landing gear is considered that includes the influence of the tire pressure via different tire properties, such as cornering force and contact patch

On the analysis of passive vibration mitigation of nose landing gears

2019
Shimmy is the self-excited rotational-lateral oscillation encountered in some wheeled structures. In landing gears, shimmy can lead to passenger discomfort, impairing pilot’s visibility, and even structural failure of the gear system. The challenge of nose landing gear shimmy vibrations is largely addressed through adding passive shimmy suppression ...

Aircraft Landing Impact Parametric Study with Emphasis on Nose Gear Landing Conditions

Journal of Aircraft, 2002
A parametric approach to simulation of landing impact, with pitching and heaving degrees of freedom of the aircraft motion, has been used to determine the response of the main and nose gears. Compared to each gear's independent behavior, there are important differences in the landing conditions and in the resulting vertical loads and displacements when

Vibration Analysis of Nose Landing Gear for A Propeller Aircraft

Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering
The main problem in the landing gear dynamics of the aircraft is either shimmy or brake induced vibration or ground induced longitudinal and lateral excitation due to runway unevenness. Neither of these vibrations is catastrophic, but still causes huge discomfort to pilots and passengers.

Fatigue Investigation of the E-2B/C Nose Landing Gear

1975
Abstract : A laboratory fatigue investigation was performed on an E-2B and an E- 2C nose landing gear to determine whether the authorized limit of 650 catapult launches could be extended. The starboard holdback lug of the E-2B nose landing gear, with modified drag brace attachment lugs, failed after the application of 3,336 test cycles.
