Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

360∘ domain walls (DWs) have generated substantial interest with the recognition that their minimal stray field creates only short range interactions, leading to a potentially higher packing density for data storage devices compared to 180∘ DWs.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.

Static experiment on rapid crack bifurcation with Y-shaped and parallel notches
Static experiments related to rapid crack bifurcation are conducted with PMMA plate specimens with Y-shaped notches. The bifurcation angle of the Y-shaped notch is changed from zero to 45 degrees.

The behavior of fatigue crack propagation of round bar specimens of S35C with one to three sharp notches was investigated and the results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) Crack length at notches that did not fracture increased with the overstress ...

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...
