The prevalence of audiometric notches in adolescents in Germany: The Ohrkan-study

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2013
Although there is concern about increasing hearing loss in adolescents caused by leisure noise exposure, prevalence data are scarce. In an US study, about 16-17% of adolescents were affected by audiometric notches.

Mismatched filter for transmit waveform with frequency notches

open access: yes, 2018
In order to reduce radar interference on communication systems within shared bands, the radar transmit waveform forms frequency notches in the shared bands.

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

A notch in time [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004
Native to the Indo-Pacific coral reefs, the alluring Korean angelfish ( Pomacanthus semicirculatus ) captivates us with its colourful designs and surprises us with its natural history. As the juvenile angelfish (seen on the cover) matures, its coloration will change to that of an adult so different in coloration that it was considered a different ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

A Hybrid Double Zero MVDR Beamformer That is Universal Over the Number of Second Order Notches

open access: yesIEEE Access
In a dynamic environment, close-range and fast-moving interferers transit the resolution cells rapidly, challenging the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer’s ability to place accurate notches in each interferer’s ...

Perception and coding of high-frequency spectral notches: Potential implications for sound localization

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2014
The interaction of sound waves with the human pinna introduces high-frequency notches (5-10 kHz) in the stimulus spectrum that are thought to be useful for vertical sound localization.

Effect of notch on static and fatigue properties of T800 fabric reinforced composites

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2020
To investigate the effect of notches on static and fatigue properties of T800 fabric carbon fibre reinforced epoxy, comparative tests were conducted between specimens of three depths of notches and un-notched specimens.
