Preliminary results in cold storage with seeds of coigüe (Nothofagus dombeyi), roble (Nothofagus obliqua) and rauli (Nothofagus alpina)

1996
Many species have two or more very low seed production year. With the purpose of continuosly covering the needs of the nurseries with viable seeds during theses low productions periods, storage essays with some species were initiated. Results obtained with seeds of Nothofagus dombeyi, N. obliqua and N.

The biology of Nothofagus

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B. Biological Sciences, 1960
Abstract Dr R. Melville (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) I believe that most species of Nothofagus are adapted to warm climates. Only N. antarctica is quite hardy in cultivation in Britain and a few others, like N. cera, can be grown in southern England. The deciduous habit, as found in N. antarctica and N.

Nothofagus Pollen in the London Clay

Nature, 1961
THE existence of southern families and genera with disjunct distributions, such as the Restionaceae and Nothofagus, has been used by many authors1,2 as evidence supporting continental drift. Some3 have stressed the importance of Antarctica as a Tertiary link between these presently disjunct areas without explicitly invoking the notion of drift.

Ruil. Nothofagus alessandrii. Monografía

1998

Stamen Morphology in Nothofagus (Nothofagaceae)

International Journal of Plant Sciences, 1998
Stamen morphology is shown to vary considerably in Nothofagus. All species in subgenus Brassospora have heteromorphic, striated epidermal papillae on their anthers. The absence of similar epidermal papillae in other subgenera in Nothofagus or in the putative sister taxa Fagaceae or Betulaceae would suggest that heteromorphic papillae is a derived ...

Genetics and physiology of Nothofagus solandri var. cliffortioides and Nothofagus menziesii - A comparative study

1993
Both Nothofagus solandri var. cliffortioides and Nothofagus menziesii have a wide natural distribution in New Zealand, comparable in latitude and altitude and overlapping throughout much of their range. Fossil records show that the two species diverged genetically at least 70 million years ago.

Diametric growth model of Nothofagus alpina and its relationship with that of Nothofagus obliqua and Nothofagus dombeyi in the natural forest from Patagonia of Argentina

2018
