Recurrent hot droughts cause persistent legacy effects in a temperate Scots Pine forest [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 622-636, April 2026.
A series of hot drought events caused persistent legacy effects in a Scots Pine forest, with severe negative impacts on ecosystem carbon fluxes. Abstract Recent hot‐dry events have caused significant impacts and legacy effects in temperate ecosystems. Here, we investigate legacy effects of the 2018 hot drought on a Pinus sylvestris L.

Morfología y Anatomía del Ápice Caulinar de Nothofagus dombeyi (Nothofagaceae) a lo largo de un año Morfology and anatomy of the shoot apex of Nothofagus dombeyi (Nothofagaceae) along a year

Effects of artificial damage on the branching pattern of Nothofagus dombeyi (Nothofagaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Forest Science, 2006
The effects of artificial damage on the branching pattern were studied for a natural population of Nothofagus dombeyi trees. In four independent experiments, leaves, buds, distal internodes and/or nodes were clipped from main-branch shoots. The sizes of shoots close to the site of damage were compared with those of control shoots.

Phylogenetic relationships and time-calibration of the South American fossil and extant species of southern beeches (Nothofagus) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica, 2018
The genus Nothofagus is considered as one of the most interesting plant genera, not only for the living species but also due to the fossil evidence distributed throughout the Southern Hemisphere. Early publications postulated a close relationship between

Changes in the natural dynamics of Nothofagus dombeyi forests

open access: yesEcosphere, 2017
Drought-induced episodes of tree mortality can determine forest dynamics and structure, particularly in forests dominated by single species. Short- and mid-term climate projections indicate that strong changes in annual precipitation may strike more often in northern Patagonia.

Effects of solar radiation on regeneration patterns in a Nothofagus dombeyi (Mirb.) Oerst. old-growth forest in Chile’s central-southern Andes

open access: yesGayana: Botanica, 2019
Nothofagus species behave like early successional species that recolonize open sites after of regular and large-scale disturbances. This study analyzed the effects of light regimes on patterns of advanced regeneration dynamics, growth in diameter ...

Insect antifeedant compounds from Nothofagus dombeyi and N. pumilio

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 2004
A bioassay-guided purification of the extracts of Nothofagus dombeyi and N. pumilio leaves yielded several triterpenes and flavonoids including 2-O-acetylmaslinic acid, 3-O-acetyl 20,24,25-trihydroxydammarane, and 3,20,24,25-tetrahydroxydammarane as new natural products.

Effect of ectomycorrhizal colonization and drought on reactive oxygen species metabolism of Nothofagus dombeyi roots [PDF]

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2009
Infection with ectomycorrhizal fungi can increase the ability of plants to resist drought stress through morphophysiological and biochemical mechanisms. However, the metabolism of antioxidative enzyme activities in the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis remains poorly understood.

Early stem and form pruning effects on short-term tree growth and stem quality in hardwood plantations: differing results in Nothofagus dombeyi and Nothofagus alpina in south-central Chile

open access: yesFrontiers in Forests and Global Change
Nothofagus species dominate the temperate forests of South America. Among them, Nothofagus dombeyi and Nothofagus alpina are long-lived, fast-growing pioneer trees with high-quality timber, which makes them attractive for plantation forestry.

Animal‐Mediated Dispersal and Clonal Growth Drive Prunus cerasus Invasion in Andean Temperate Forest

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Prunus cerasus reproduces by clonality and by seed dispersal and germination. P. cerasus is invading Patagonian protected areas. The relative relevance of germination and clonal reproduction changes along the time of P. cerasus arrival at a site. Seed dispersal by foxes is primarily responsible for the spread of P. cerasus to new areas.
