Radial Growth Patterns Associated with Tree Mortality in Nothofagus pumilio Forest [PDF]

open access: yesForests, 2019
Tree mortality is a key process in forest dynamics. Despite decades of effort to understand this process, many uncertainties remain. South American broadleaf species are particularly under-represented in global studies on mortality and forest dynamics.

Characterization and decomposition of Nothofagus pumilio fine woody material

Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 2019
Wood is one of the main reservoirs of carbon (C) and nutrients in Nothofagus pumilio (Poepp. & Endl.) Krasser forests; hence, its decomposition is essential for C and nutrient cycling. Chemical traits are one of the factors affecting wood decomposition, but there is little information describing these chemical characteristics. Our objective was to

Monografía de lenga Nothofagus pumilio

1998

Role of abiotic factors in Nothofagus pumilio forest mortality: The sensitivity of ecotones

Forest Ecology and Management, 2021
Abstract The world's forests are being affected by a changing climate. Recently, patches of dead trees have been found in forests of the Patagonian endemic species Nothofagus pumilio, which could not be related to insects or pathogenic fungi acting as primary agents. This study aimed to analyze environmental variables associated with N.
