AbstractElectron microscopy of the cells of the follicle duct of Triops cancriformis shows that the follicular ducts are lined by a single‐layered epithelium which also produces the eggshell material. The cytoplasm is rich in rough endoplasmic reticulum that synthesizes the eggshell material which subsequently aggregates into preformed vacuoles.

The reproduction and cytology of the Notostraca (Crustacea, Phyllopoda).
Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London, 1955SummaryBoth bisexual and hermaphrodite reproduction occurs in the Notostraca. The form of the gonads is described and the cytological cycle of ovaries and testes reported briefly. The most successful chromosome counts were made on the early spermatid nuclei, seen abundantly in smears of nearly mature tests.

Evolutionary genomics of the crustacean Triops cancriformis (Branchiopoda, Notostraca)
2017WHO? Triops cancriformis is a crustacean of the class Branchiopoda, order Notostraca. The order comprises only two genera (Triops and Lepidurus) world-wide distributed owing to their ancient origin. T. cancriformis lives in freshwater ponds that may be subjected to dry period during which the tadpole shrimps survive as encysted egg resistant stages. It

Ultrastructural observations on the oogenesis of Triops cancriformis (Crustacea, Notostraca).
Cell and tissue research, 1979Each ovarian follicle of Triops cancriformis is four-celled; these cells (one oocyte and three nurse cells) are interconnected by cytoplasmic bridges. In the course of differentiation, the nurse cells are clearly recognizable; they increase in size more than the oocyte and their nuclei contain many nucleoli.
