V348 Puppis: a new SW Sex star in the period gap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present time-resolved optical spectroscopy and photometry of the nova-like cataclysmic variable V348 Puppis. The system displays the same spectroscopic behaviour as SW Sex stars, so we classify V348 Pup as a new member of the class.

CCD-PHOTOMETRY OF CATACLYSMIC VARIABLE ES DRA IN 2001

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
On the base of our 34-day photometry of ES Dra we found its ∼ 20 d light variations with amplitude of 1m.6 and suggest this star could belong to the nova-like subclass of cataclysmic variable stars.

Searching for nova shells around cataclysmic variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present the results of a search for nova shells around 101 cataclysmic variables (CVs), using Halpha images taken with the 4.2-m William Herschel Telescope (WHT) and the 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope Photometric Halpha Survey of the Northern Galactic ...

Ground-based variability surveys towards Centaurus A: worthwhile or not? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Context: Difference imaging has proven to be a powerful technique for detecting and monitoring the variability of unresolved stellar sources in M 31.

Recovery of the old nova V840 Ophiuchi: A carbon rich system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present optical spectroscopy and multi colour photometry of the old nova V840 Oph. We rediscovered the nova based on its position in the colour--colour diagrams. It stands out as a very blue object with an additional red component.

The Nova-like Variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We review optical observations and theoretical models of the non-magnetic nova-like variables (UX UMa, VY Scl and SW Sex stars). A brief discussion of the classification scheme is followed by a statistical overview of the observed properties.

USING CONSUMER-GRADE DSLR CAMERA AND SMALL TELESCOPE TO FIND NEW VARIABLE STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2019
Twenty-seven new variable stars were found in DSLR images captured from October 2017 to June 2019. All images were taken using unmod- i?ed Canon EOS 600D DSLR attached to a Sky- watcher 150/750 Newtonian on a motorized equato- rial mount.

High speed photometry of faint cataclysmic variables - VI. Car2, V1040 Cen, Ha 075648, IL Nor (Nova Nor 1893), HS Pup (Nova Pup 1963), SDSS J2048-06, CSS 081419-005022 and CSS 112634-100210

open access: yes, 2009
We have observed 8 faint cataclysmic variable stars photometrically. The nova-like Car2 was extensively sampled but showed little variability. V1040 Cen was observed near the end of a dwarf nova outburst and possessed dwarf nova and quasi-periodic ...

"INTER-LONGITUDE ASTRONOMY" (ILA) PROJECT: CURRENT HIGHLIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES. I. MAGNETIC VS. NON-MAGNETIC INTERACTING BINARY STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2010
We present a review of highlights of our photometric and photo-polarimetric monitoring and mathematical modeling of interacting binary stars of different types classical, asynchronous, intermedi ate polars with 25 timescales corresponding to differ ent ...

The Photometric Period and Variability of the Cataclysmic Variable V849 Herculis (PG 1633+115)

open access: yes, 2012
We report time-resolved photometry of the cataclysmic variable V849 Her, and measure a period of 0.1414 \pm 0.0030 days (3.394 \pm 0.072 hours). We also present photometry taken over several weeks in 2010 and 2011, as well as light curves from 1995 to ...
