Novel view synthesis in tensor space
Proceedings of IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2002We present a new method for synthesizing novel views of a 3D scene from few model images in full correspondence. The core of this work is the derivation of a tensorial operator that describes the transformation from a given tensor of three views to a novel tensor of a new configuration of three views.

FLEXIBLE INPUT FOR NOVEL VIEW SYNTHESIS
Synthesizing novel views of a scene from a limited number of input images is a long-standing problem. It has enormous practical applications, such as virtual museums, online meetings, and sports event streaming. The emergence of virtual reality technology has also made it easier for people to observe and interact with virtual environments, highlighting

Rotationally-Consistent Novel View Synthesis for Humans
Proceedings of the 28th ACM International Conference on Multimedia, 2020Human novel view synthesis aims to synthesize target views of a human subject given input images taken from one or more reference viewpoints. Despite significant advances in model-free novel view synthesis, existing methods present two major limitations when applied to complex shapes like humans.

Learning Residual Color for Novel View Synthesis
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2022Scene Representation Networks (SRN) have been proven as a powerful tool for novel view synthesis in recent works. They learn a mapping function from the world coordinates of spatial points to radiance color and the scene's density using a fully connected network. However, scene texture contains complex high-frequency details in practice that is hard to

Appearance Flow Completion for Novel View Synthesis
Computer Graphics Forum, 2019AbstractNovel view synthesis from sparse and unstructured input views faces challenges like the difficulty with dense 3D reconstruction and large occlusion. This paper addresses these problems by estimating proper appearance flows from the target to input views to warp and blend the input views.

Novel view synthesis by cascading trilinear tensors
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 1998Presents a new method for synthesizing novel views of a 3D scene from two or three reference images in full correspondence. The core of this work is the use and manipulation of an algebraic entity, termed the "trilinear tensor", that links point correspondences across three images.

Inverse tensor transfer for novel view synthesis
IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005This paper provides a new transfer based novel view synthesis method. This method does not need a pre-computed dense depth map, therefore overcomes most common problems associated with conventional dense correspondence algorithms, yet still produce very photo-realistic novel images.

Bi-layer inpainting for novel view synthesis
2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2011We present a bi-layer inpainting method for synthesizing novel views from a single color image and its corresponding depth map under the exemplar-based inpainting framework. Unlike conventional image inpainting, the decisions of the inpainting direction and the sample regions are important to inpaint disoccluded regions which disclose hidden background

Novel view synthesis using a translating camera
Pattern Recognition Letters, 2005This paper addresses the problem of synthesizing novel views of a scene using images taken by an uncalibrated translating camera. We propose a method for synthesis of views corresponding to translational motion of the camera. Our scheme can handle occlusions and changes in visibility in the synthesized views.

Depth-aided image inpainting for novel view synthesis
2010 IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing, 2010Depth Image Based Rendering (DIBR) technique has been recognized as a promising tool for supporting advanced 3D video services required in MultiView Video (MVV) systems. However, an inherent problem with DIBR is to fill newly exposed areas (holes) caused by disocclusions. This paper addresses the disocclusion problem.
