Evolution of dispersion of carbon nanotubes in Polyamide 11 matrix composites as determined by DC conductivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Double-walled Carbon NanoTubes (DWCNTs) have been dispersed in a Polyamide 11 (PA11) matrix by two routes: in the solvent way, Polyamide 11 was first dissolved in its solvent to ensure a liquid state dispersion of carbon nanotubes by ultrasonic way; in ...

The Rheology of Graphene Oxide Dispersions in Highly Viscous Epoxy Resin: The Anomalies in Properties as Advantages for Developing Film Binders

open access: yesLiquids
Graphene oxide (GO) has been successfully used as a filler to modify various properties of polymers and fiber-reinforced composites. The resulting properties depend on the filler content and on the distribution of GO in the polymer matrix.

Effects of Sizing Agents and Resin-Formulated Matrices with Varying Stiffness-Toughness Ratios on the Properties of Carbon Fiber Epoxy Resin Composites. [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers (Basel)
Interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and compressive strength are two of the most critical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). In this report, three types of epoxy resins—4,4’-diaminodiphenylmethane epoxy resin (AG-80 ...

Char to the Rescue: Processing and Transfer of Flame‐Retardant Epoxy Resins, Adjusting the Fire Behavior and Post‐Fire Structural Integrity of Glass Fiber Composites

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 20, Page 4295-4309, 15 October 2025.
A comparison of the residual post‐fire flexural strengths of DGEBA and epoxy novolac composites with and without flame retardants. ABSTRACT Epoxy (EP) glass fiber reinforced composites (GFRCs) are extensively used in structural applications due to their excellent thermal and mechanical properties, but their inherent flammability limits fire‐safe ...

Depth‐Customizable 3D Electrode Array for Recording Functional Connectivity in the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 13, August 20, 2025.
In this study, a depth‐adjustable, flexible 3D multi‐shank electrode array that produces precise neural recordings at various brain depths is developed. Integrating 2D flexible electrode arrays with a modular supporting board allowed the insertion depth to be easily adjusted without re‐fabrication.

Morphological, Mechanical and Physio-chemical Performance of ortho-Cresol Epoxy Novolac Based Vinyl Ester Resin

open access: yes, 2015
Vinyl ester resin (VEOCN) was prepared from o-cresol epoxy resin (EOCN) and methacrylic acid in the presence of triphenyl phosphine as catalyst and hydroquinone as inhibitor with acid value of ~ 7 mg of KOH per gram of solid. O-cresol based novolac resin

Oxidation Behavior of MgO‐C Refractories Containing Metallic Aluminum, Calcium Magnesium Aluminate Aggregates, and Carbores P

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 5, May 2025.
The study investigates the oxidation resistance of MgO‐C refractories enhanced with calcium magnesium aluminate (CMA) aggregates, metallic aluminum, and Carbores P from 800 to 1600 °C. CMA retains resistance up to 1200 °C but decreases above. Carbores P protects up to 1000 °C, while metallic aluminum shows the highest resistance across the range.

Elastic and acoustic properties determination of epoxy/polystyrene/nanoclay/red mud waste hybrid composites by ultrasonic method

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 930-948, 10 January 2025.
Epoxy/polystyrene/nanoclay/red mud waste hybrid composites and ultrasonic testing. Abstract Ultrasonic methods are more sensitive to defects such as voids, pores, and discontinuities that can diminish the true elastic and acoustic properties of materials compared to destructive testing.
