Control of NOx emissions by NOx recycle approach
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1996NO3 recycle is an alternative approach for the control of NOx emissions from combustion. It uses regenerable sorbent to adsorb NOx in the flue gas from a combustor followed by desorption, producing a highly concentrated NOx-laden stream containing both NO and NO2. This stream is then sent back to the same combustor or to a separate combustor, where the

Through various processes the nitrogen oxides (NOX) interact with trace gases in the troposphere and stratosphere which do absorb in the spectral range relevant to the greenhouse effect (infrared wavelengths). The net effect is an enhancement of the greenhouse effect.

Since the first demonstration of Nox enzyme expression in the kidney in the early 1990s and the subsequent identification of Nox4, or RENOX, a decade later, it has become apparent that the Nox family of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generating enzymes plays an integral role in the normal physiological function of the kidney.

This discussion was based on the background document “Review on modelling atmosphere-biosphere exchange of Ozone and Nitrogen oxides”, which reviews the processes contributing to biosphere-atmosphere exchange of O3 and NOx, including stomatal and non-stomatal exchange of O3 and NO, NO2.

NOX-free inflammasome activation
Blood, 2010In this issue of Blood, Meissner and colleagues discover that immune cells from CGD patients that have defective phagocyte oxidases show hyperactive inflammasome activation. These findings implicate that ROS down-regulate rather than enable caspase-1 activation and identify anti–IL-1 strategies as a potential therapy for the disproportionate ...
