Emergence of Ophidiomyces ophidiicola, Nannizziopsis barbatae and Paranannizziopsis in free‐ranging Australian reptiles

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Emerging fungal diseases pose a threat to reptiles globally. Increasing detections of onygenalean fungi, particularly Ophidiomyces ophidiicola, Nannizziopsis spp. and Paranannizziopsis spp. in clinically diseased free‐ranging reptiles, indicate likely ongoing spread within wild reptile populations.

Characterization of npf mutants identifying developmental genes in Physarum [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1995
In Physarum polycephalum, uninucleate haploid amoebae develop into macroscopic multinucleate plasmodia. Wild-type, sexual development is triggered when two amoebae carrying different alleles of matA fuse to form a zygote which develops into a diploid plasmodium.

Feeding effects of dsNPF interference in Ostrinia furnacalis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2020
The corn borer is a world-wide agricultural pest. In this study, a high-efficiency RNAi method was explored to knock down the neuropeptide F (NPF) to determine if NPF regulates larval feeding in the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis.

Equation of state of a superfluid Fermi gas in the BCS-BEC crossover

open access: yes, 2006
We present a theory for a superfluid Fermi gas near the BCS-BEC crossover, including pairing fluctuation contributions to the free energy similar to that considered by Nozieres and Schmitt-Rink for the normal phase.

Symbiosis‐associated UMAMIT transporters required for establishing efficient nitrogen fixation in Medicago truncatula

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary To address a critical gap in understanding amino acid transport in legume–Rhizobium symbiosis, we investigated the role of symbiosis‐associated USUALLY MULTIPLE ACIDS MOVE IN AND OUT TRANSPORTERS (UMAMITs) in Medicago truncatula nodulation.

Perturbation of Anion/Cation Transport Leads to Apical Panicle Abortion in Rice by Disrupting Ca2+ Homeostasis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Calcium ion (Ca2+) is an essential plant nutrient required for cell structure establishment, as well as a counter‐cation of an anion and an intracellular messenger. Calcium is absorbed from soil by roots and delivered to shoots through the xylem. The process must be finely balanced to avoid excessive accumulation.
