Smith equivalence and finite Oliver groups with Laitinen number 0 or 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In 1960, Paul A. Smith asked the following question. If a finite group G acts smoothly on a sphere with exactly two fixed points, is it true that the tangent G-modules at the two points are always isomorphic? We focus on the case G is an Oliver group and

Is NPP proportional to GPP? Waring's hypothesis twenty years on.

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2019
Gross primary production (GPP) is partitioned to autotrophic respiration (Ra) and net primary production (NPP), the latter being used to build plant tissues and synthesize non-structural and secondary compounds. Waring et al.

Zooplankton of the transboundary Neman River during the construction and conservation of the Baltic NPP

open access: yesВодное хозяйство России: проблемы, технологии, управление, 2023
Studies of the background state of the Neman River zooplankton (prior od commission of the Baltic Nuclear Power Plant) will enable to use the obtained data for assessment of the possible changes in the water fl ow and to develop measures aimed at ...

IMPACT OF PHYTASE SUPPLEMENTATION IN RESTRICTED CALCIUM AND PHOSPHORUS BROILER DIETS ON PERFORMANCE, BLOOD PARAMETERS AND BONE CHARACTERISTICS [PDF]

open access: yesArab Universities Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2020
Six weeks feeding trial using 210 one-day old unsexed Cobb 500 chicks was carried out to study the effects of addingphytase enzyme on growth performance, blood parametersand bone characteristics in broiler chicks.

Passive autocatalitic recombiner characteritics calculation during severe accident on AES-2006 NPP

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2020
A modern NPP is equipped by containment to hold radioactive substances and ionizing radiation bounded as design margins prescribe. Hydrogen mitigation system is used to protect containment against hydrogen fire and detonation. The system includes a scope

DayCent Model Predictions of NPP and Grain Yields for Agricultural Lands in the Contiguous U.S.

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, 2020
Accurate estimation of crop net primary production (NPP) and yields is fundamental for regional analyses of agroecosystem dynamics using process‐based models. In this study, we simulated croplands in the contiguous U.S.

High potential for weathering and climate effects of non-vascular vegetation in the Late Ordovician [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
It has been hypothesized that predecessors of today’s bryophytes significantly increased global chemical weathering in the Late Ordovician, thus reducing atmospheric CO2 concentration and contributing to climate cooling and an interval of glaciations ...

Comparative Assessment of the NPP Risk (on the Example of Rostov and Kalinin NPP). Development of Risk Indicators Atlas for Russian NPPs

open access: yesGraphiCon'2019 Proceedings. Volume 2, 2019
The object of the work is to compare and analyze external and internal exposure doses and assess damage to the population living around nuclear power plants with VVER-type reactors (on the Rostov and Kalinin nuclear power plants), within a certain radius, taking into account the wind rose.

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...
