Mapping ecological corridors in the Upper Paraguay River Basin, Brazil: Applications for sustainability, public policy and decision‐making

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
We identified and mapped ecological corridors on a regional scale for the entire upper paragauai basin, which is one of the largest basins in Brazil. Our results were an extensive network of corridors across the basin, as well as identifying areas for better connectivity.

Modelling Lake Ice Phenology with an Examination of Satellite‐Detected Subgrid Cell Variability

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Lake ice was simulated for the province of Quebec, Canada, for both contemporary and future climate conditions using a one‐dimensional thermodynamic ice model. The model was forced with NARR data (32 km) and both the daily IMS product (4 km) and the MODIS snow product (500 m) were assessed for their utility at determining lake ice phenology at the ...

Sorbitol as a Cryptic Cause of Diarrhea

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 2, Issue 4, Page 140-142, 1988., 1988
Sorbitol is a poorly absorbed monosaccharide widely used as a sweetener for dietetic foods and as a drug vehicle. Ingestion of sorbitol can lead to gastrointestinal complaints such as cramps and diarrhea. Two patients in whom unrecognized sorbitol ingestion produced symptoms which mimicked an exacerbation of another underlying disorder are presented ...

Enhancing the National Spatial Data Infrastructure to Support 3D Real Estate Valuation: A Case Study of GIS‐Supported Scoring of 3D Residential Units Based on Expert Opinion

open access: yesTransactions in GIS, Volume 29, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT To support property valuation using three‐dimensional (3D) real estate, the present study aims to extend the national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI) with value‐affecting factors such as location characteristics, spatial planning, sociocultural information, and building and dwelling characteristics.

Shepherd electron effects in multiple ionization of rubidium by circularly polarized intense laser fields

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2023
Nonsequential double/multiple ionization (NSDI/NSMI) of atoms in strong laser fields is a paradigm system for studying field-intervened electron-electron correlation. However, there exists a long-standing debated topic as to how NSDI/NSMI is triggered in

Sounds of the underground reflect soil biodiversity dynamics across a grassy woodland restoration chronosequence

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 9, Page 2047-2060, September 2024.
Our results provide new support that ecoacoustics can help monitor soil biodiversity in different forest restoration contexts, including in UK temperate and Australian grassy woodlands. This technology holds promise in addressing the global need for effective soil biodiversity monitoring methods and protecting our planet's most diverse ecosystems ...

The Strategy for the Development of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the Czech Republic

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2016
Spatial information is often not effectively handled and used, e.g., in public administration. The key reason is that information about what spatial data exists, and where and under which circumstances it can be used, is missing.

Study of the different sleep disturbances during the prodromal phase of depression and mania in bipolar disorders

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 26, Issue 5, Page 454-467, August 2024.
Abstract Background One of the challenges in bipolar disorder (BD) lies in early detection of the illness and its recurrences, to improve prognosis. Sleep disturbances (SD) have been proposed as reliable predictive markers of conversion. While preliminary studies have explored the relationship between SD and the onset of mood episodes, the results ...

Nonsequential double ionization channels control of CO2 molecules with counter-rotating two-color circularly polarized laser field by laser wavelength

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2023
Using the classical ensemble model, we investigate the effect of laser wavelength on the electron dynamics process of nonsequential double ionization (NSDI) for linear triatomic molecules driven by a counter-rotating two-color circularly polarized laser ...
