Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.

ABSTRACT Background Accurate bioprosthesis implantation depth during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is crucial for optimal outcomes. Self‐expanding valves (SEVs) have evolved delivery catheter designs, from a double spine shaft in Evolut PRO+ (PRO + ) to single spine in Evolut FX (FX) and non‐spine in Navitor, to improve access ...

Carfilzomib is highly effective in the treatment of multiple myeloma, but it has been associated with cardiovascular adverse events that impact patient outcomes. Our prior global metabolomic analyses indicated an association between hydrophilic bile acids and carfilzomib‐cardiotoxicity risk, although a causal relationship remained to be determined ...

Levels of NT‑proBNP in patients with cancer
At present, it is well known that natriuretic peptides may be produced by cancer cells. Stimulation of N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) synthesis may be a reaction to activity of several proinflammatory cytokines. NT-proBNP is also a marker of myocardial damage during cardiotoxic chemotherapy by anthracyclines.

Natriuretic peptide vs. clinical information for diagnosis of left ventricular systolic dysfunction in primary care [PDF]
Background Screening of primary care patients at risk for left ventricular systolic dysfunction by a simple blood-test might reduce referral rates for echocardiography.

Role of selenium in the pathophysiology of cardiorenal anaemia syndrome
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have multiple bidirectional mechanisms, and anaemia is one of the critical factors that are associated with the progression of the two disorders [referred to as cardiorenal anaemia syndrome (CRAS)].
