A Search for Variability in Exoplanet Analogues and Low-Gravity Brown Dwarfs [PDF]
We report the results of a $J$-band survey for photometric variability in a sample of young, low-gravity objects using the New Technology Telescope (NTT) and the United Kingdom InfraRed Telescope (UKIRT).

Abstract Brain surgery is a widely practised and effective treatment for brain tumours, but accurately identifying and classifying tumour boundaries is crucial to maximise resection and avoid neurological complications. This precision in classification is essential for guiding surgical decisions and subsequent treatment planning.

Estimating National and Foreign Trade Elasticities Using Generalized Transport Costs
ABSTRACT We introduce the definition of two distinct trade elasticities corresponding to imports from regions located in the same country (national elasticities) and foreign regions located in other countries (foreign elasticities). We resort to a three‐tier nested CES utility structure to derive the corresponding demand gravity equations.

Density‐Valued ARMA Models by Spline Mixtures
ABSTRACT This paper proposes a novel framework for modeling time series of probability density functions by extending autoregressive moving average (ARMA) models to density‐valued data. The method is based on a transformation approach, wherein each density function on a compact domain [0,1]d$$ {\left[0,1\right]}^d $$ is approximated by a B‐spline ...

On-chip temporal focusing of elastic waves in a phononic crystal waveguide
Here the authors demonstrate the temporal control of ultrasonic wave propagation in a one-dimensional phononic crystal waveguide. Four-wave mixing experiments are implemented, providing a platform on which to realize novel nonlinear phenomena in the ...

Discovery of an optical bow-shock around pulsar B0740-28 [PDF]
We report the discovery of a faint H-alpha pulsar wind nebula (PWN) powered by the radio pulsar B0740-28. The characteristic bow-shock morphology of the PWN implies a direction of motion consistent with the previously measured velocity vector for the ...
