Improving Operator Depth Vision in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: A Pilot Study of a New Three‐dimensional Imaging System

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and aims Traditional two‐dimensional (2D) gastrointestinal endoscopy lacks depth perception, leading to potential diagnostic errors. This study evaluates a novel software‐based three‐dimensional (3D) endoscopy system that converts 2D images into 3D, compatible with existing endoscopes.

Characterizing full-time, non-tenure-track teaching faculty in biology

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology & Biology Education
Institutions of higher education play a major role in teaching undergraduate students. Historically, most courses have been taught by tenure-track (TT) faculty who may also be responsible for research or scholarly activities. However, a recent shift from

A strict experimental test of macroscopic realism in a superconducting flux qubit

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Objective collapse theories are formulations of quantum physics that attempt to solve the measurement problem through modified dynamical laws. Here, the authors constrain such theories by testing a generalization of the Leggett-Garg inequality in a ...

Monolithic Integration of InP Wire and $\mbox{SiO}_x$ Waveguides on Si Platform

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We report a low-loss InP wire waveguide monolithically integrated with an SiOx waveguide on an Si platform. By means of directly bonding InP to SiO 2, we realized a submicrometer-scale InP wire waveguide with high optical confinement.

Inhibitory Effect of Lidocaine on Duodenal Peristalsis During Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography: A Multicenter, Randomized Controlled Trial (With Video)

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Conventional antispasmodics used during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), such as hyoscine butylbromide and glucagon, are often contraindicated in elderly patients with comorbidities. This trial aimed to assess the efficacy of lidocaine for inhibiting duodenal peristalsis during ERCP.

Modifiable Geriatric Risk Factors Identified by CGA Predict Adverse Outcomes in Frail Vietnamese Older Adults: A 12‐Month Longitudinal Study

open access: yesLifestyle Medicine, Volume 7, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Vietnam's rapidly aging population faces a growing burden of frailty.
