High-energy nuclear physics in China

Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 2007
In this talk, I first discuss the history of the Shanghai Association of Science and Technology (SAST) where the present Quark Matter conference was held. Secondly, I review the status of high-energy nuclear physics in China, including brief introductions to the institutions and the accelerator-based facilities.

Nuclear physics studies using high energy lasers

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2011
Abstract This paper presents several mechanisms expected to be responsible for nuclear excitation in laser-heated plasma. Attempts to detect such processes in nuclei initially in their ground state are discussed in 181Ta and 235U cases. A calculation of the nuclear excitation by electronic transition (NEET) rate is presented in a 201Hg plasma at ...

High-energy nuclear physics conference

Physics Today, 1959
Russia is no longer a terra incognita from which an occasional traveler returns with strange tales of prodigious toasts in vodka and the palatial magnificence of the Moscow Metro. It is several years too late for the author of this article to be able to indulge in discoursing widely on East and West and he must confine himself to the business in hand ...

the importance of high vacua to high energy nuclear physics

Vacuum, 1953
Abstract a brief histroical account is given of the development of cyclic accelerators, and present and future accelerators are discussed. An attempt is made to show the important place which these machines occupy in a most fundamental field of physics.

CERN Conference on High-Energy Nuclear Physics

Physics Today, 1958
Geneva is a city accustomed to international conferences but even the Genevans must have been a little surprised to find two conferences on nuclear topics occurring in their midst in one week. One was the East-West meeting of experts to discuss nuclear test detection.
