Chemistry of lens nuclear sclerosis
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1969Abstract Two forms of insoluble protein have been isolated from the rat lens based upon their solubility in 7M urea. The urea soluble form, found mainly in the cortex of the lens, contains nearly equal levels of alpha and gamma crystallins, and appears to be associated by hydrogen and hydrophobic bonds.
