Investigating the distribution of heat transfer in a thick-walled functionally graded cylindrical shell under heat flux

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
The primary aim of this work is to investigate the heat transfer behavior in a thick-walled functionally graded cylindrical shell subjected to internal pressure and thermal gradients, specifically focusing on how different material grading profiles ...

Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to alleviate fatigue in multiple sclerosis—study protocol for a randomized sham-controlled double-blinded clinical trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundFatigue is a common and disabling symptom in multiple sclerosis (MS), quantifiable by patient reported outcome instruments such as the Fatigue Scale for Motor and Cognitive Functions (FSMC).

Force detection of nuclear magnetic resonance using double-torsional micro-oscillators

open access: yes, 2001
The nuclear magnetic resonance of a sample of ammonium sulfate has been detected by coupling the magnetic force from the spins to a double torsional micro-oscillator .A single-sweep sensitivity of 3 × 10−15 N/Hz1/2 was observed at room temperature for ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Magnetic‐Field Control of Surface States in CoFe2O4 Thin Films for Nitrate Electroreduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐assisted CVD of heterometallic single‐source precursors modulates thin‐film surface electronic structure and interfacial charge transfer. Field‐grown (Cobalt ferrite‐1T)CF‐1T films exhibit stabilized electronic states, lower kinetic barriers, and markedly enhanced nitrate‐to‐ammonia electrocatalysis versus (Cobalt ferrite‐0T) CF‐0T ...

Electro‐Steric Ion Confinement in Polyelectrolyte Networks for Robust Nonvolatile Artificial Synapse

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte stoichiometry governs ion transport and retention in electrolyte‐gated synaptic transistors. A PSS‐rich network creates electro‐steric ion confinement that suppresses ion back‐diffusion and stabilizes channel doping, enabling robust nonvolatile synaptic memory, linear weight updates, and low‐energy operation.

The possible neural mechanism of neuropathic pain evoked by motor imagery in pediatric patients with complete spinal cord injury: A preliminary brain structure study based on VBM

open access: yesHeliyon
In this study, we observed pediatric complete spinal cord injury (CSCI) patients receiving MI training and divided them into different groups according to the effect of motor imagery (MI) training on neuropathic pain (NP).
