Might Normal Nuclear Matter be Quarkyonic? [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 110, 025201 (2024)
The possibility that nuclear matter might be Quarkyonic is considered. Quarkyonic matter is high baryon density matter that is confined but can be approximately thought of as a filled Fermi sea of quarks surrounded by a shell of nucleons. Here, nuclear matter is described by the IdylliQ sigma model for Quarkyonic matter, generalizing the non ...

Nuclear matter properties, phenomenological theory of clustering at the nuclear surface, and symmetry energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a phenomenological theory of nuclei that incorporates clustering at the nuclear surface in a general form. The theory explains the recently extracted large symmetry energy by Natowitz et al. at low densities of nuclear matter and is fully consistent with the static properties of nuclei.

Reevaluation of the density dependence of nucleon radius and mass in the global color symmetry model of QCD

open access: yes, 2003
With the global color symmetry model (GCM) at finite chemical potential, the density dependence of the bag constant, the total energy and the radius of a nucleon in nuclear matter is investigated.

Immunoregulatory mechanisms of the arachidonic acid pathway in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The central role of the arachidonic acid (AA) pathway in anticancer immunity. Enzymes and metabolites of the AA pathway can play both immunosuppressive and immunostimulatory roles in the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, their tailored targeting could be beneficial as a standalone therapy or in combination with current cancer immunotherapy.

Factors modulating 99mTc‐MAA planar lung dosimetry for 90Y radioembolization

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the accuracy and biases of predicted lung shunt fraction (LSF) and lung dose (LD) calculations via 99mTc‐macro‐aggregated albumin (99mTc‐MAA) planar imaging for treatment planning of 90Y‐microsphere radioembolization.

Three-body Force Effects on the Properties of Neutron-rich Nuclear Matter [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys.: Conf. Ser. 420 (2013) 012089, 2012
We review our research work on the single-particle properties and the equation of state (EOS) of isospin asymmetric nuclear matter within the framework of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (BHF) approach extended by including a microscopic three-body force (TBF).

High-temperature tensile strength of C/SiC composite under laser-induced high heating flux in an aerobic environment

open access: yesScientific Reports
Based on the advantages of laser high brightness, a high-temperature mechanical property measuring device has been developed, which can measure the high-temperature strength of C/SiC composites under the condition of short-term high-temperature rise rate

Hyperonic Interactions in Neutron Stars

open access: yesParticles, 2023
The matter of neutron stars is characterised by the density of the order of typical nuclear densities; hence, it can be described with methods of nuclear physics.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...
