Extraction of Cs-137 by alcohol-water solvents from plants containing cardiac glycosides [PDF]
As a result of nuclear power plant accidents, large areas receive radioactive inputs of Cs-137. This cesium accumulates in herbs growing in such territories. The problem is whether the herbs contaminated by radiocesium may be used as a raw material for medicine. The answer depends on the amount of Cs-137 transfered from the contaminated raw material to

Liquid xenon in nuclear medicine: state-of-the-art and the PETALO approach [PDF]
Liquid xenon has several attractive features, which make it suitable for applications to nuclear medicine, such as high scintillation yield and fast scintillation decay time, better than currently used crystals. Since the '90s, several attempts has been made to build Positron Emission Tomography scanners based on liquid xenon, which can be divided into

On the usage of electron beam as a tool to produce radioactive isotopes in photo-nuclear reactions [PDF]
We treat the bremsstrahlung induced by initial electron beam in converter, and the production of a desirable radio-isotope due to the photo-nuclear reaction caused by this bremsstrahlung. By way of illustration, the yield of a number of some, the most in practice applicable, radio-isotopes is evaluated.

Nuclear War from a Cosmic Perspective [PDF]
I discuss the impact of computer progress on nuclear war policy, both by enabling more accurate nuclear winter simulations and by affecting the probability of war starting accidentally. I argue that from a cosmic perspective, humanity's track record of risk mitigation is inexcusably pathetic, jeopardizing the potential for life to flourish for billions

Nuclear medicine in tropical diseases
Tropical diseases affect more people in the world than any other kind of disease, but scintigraphic data on that matter are not so frequent in the literature.
