Steps towards the development of an experimentally verified simulation of pool nucleate boiling on a silicon wafer with artificial sites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Nucleate boiling is a very effective heat transfer cooling process, used in numerous industrial applications. Despite intensive research over decades, a reliable model of nucleate pool boiling is still not available.

Realizing highly coordinated, rapid and sustainable nucleate boiling in microchannels on HFE-7100

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Flow boiling in microchannels using dielectric fluids is one of the most desirable cooling solutions for high power electronics. However, it is challenging to promote the flow boiling performances, particularly critical heat flux (CHF), due to their ...

Numerical investigation on bubble dynamics during pool nucleate boiling in presence of a non-uniform electric field by LBM

open access: yesApplied Thermal Engineering, 2019
Previous experimental studies proved that an external electric field could accelerate the detachment of vapor bubble. However, it was difficult to investigate the influencing mechanism of an electric field on bubble dynamics because of the limit of ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Bubble Behavior and Heat Transfer in Quasi-Steady Pool Boiling in Microgravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pool boiling of degassed FC-72 on a plane plate heater has been studied experimentally in microgravity. A quasi-steady heating method is adopted, in which the heating voltage is controlled to increase exponentially with time.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Transient flow boiling in a semi-annular duct: From the Onset of Nucleate Boiling to the Fully Developed Nucleate Boiling

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
This paper presents an investigation of the transient Onset of Nucleate Boiling (ONB) on a vertical heated surface cooled by an upward flow. The duct geometry used (semi-annulus with a heated inner wall) make this study very similar to a fuel rod in a ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...
