Mechanisms governing hepadnaviral nucleocapsid assembly

Journal of Hepatology, 1993
Reverse transcription of an RNA pregenome is the central step in the replication cycle of the hepatitis B viruses. This reaction takes place within the viral nucleocapsid composed of the core protein, product(s) of the P (pol) gene and the RNA pregenome.

Structure of the baculovirus nucleocapsid

Virology, 1982
A low-resolution structural model of the nucleocapsid of Spodoptera litura granulosis virus, a member of the Baculoviridae family, has been determined using contrast variation methods in both electron microscopy and low-angle X-ray solution scattering.

Intracellular stability of nonreplicating paramyxovirus nucleocapsids

Virology, 1990
Using Northern blot analysis, we have demonstrated the ability of infectious measles and Sendai virus particles to rescue the intracellular replication of their homologous defective interfering (DI) nucleocapsids up to 3 days and 1 day, respectively, after initial DI infection. The half-life of the paramyxovirus DI nucleocapsids was therefore judged to

Nucleocapsid Structure and Function

2008
Measles virus belongs to the Paramyxoviridae family within the Mononegavirales order. Its nonsegmented, single-stranded, negative-sense RNA genome is encapsidated by the nucleoprotein (N) to form a helical nucleocapsid. This ribonucleoproteic complex is the substrate for both transcription and replication.

The ultrastructure of disrupted herpesvirus nucleocapsids

Virology, 1975
Abstract Nucleocapsids prepared by treating herpes simplex or varicella-zoster virions with Nonidet P-40 were found to be degraded by EDTA-trypsin. Initial action of the enzyme appeared to be to degrade the pentameric capsomeres located on the vertices of the icosahedron and thus cause the capsid to flatten and the capsomeres to align in a ...

Intracellular metabolism of Sendai virus nucleocapsids

Virology, 1978
Abstract We examined the intracellular pathways that Sendai virus polypeptides P and NP take into nucleocapsids by use of pulse-chase labeling and cell fractionation. Although most molecules of the major polypeptide NP entered nucleocapsids by way of a large soluble pool with slow exit kinetics, a fraction of NP molecules appeared to bypass this pool,

Respiratory syncytial virus nucleocapsid protein (N) expressed in insect cells forms nucleocapsid-like structures

Virus Research, 1994
The gene coding for the N protein of RSV strain Long has been cloned and sequenced. It was introduced behind the polyhedrin promoter of the shuttle vector pVL941 and baculoviruses containing the N gene were constructed by homologous recombination.

[Morphogenesis of AcMNPV nucleocapsid].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 1999
In this paper we reported that the nucleocapsid morphogenetic process of AcMNPV in which polyhedrin gene was deleted in the nuclei of sf9 cells. First, the capsid proteins entered the nuclei and assembled many 34nm diameter long fascicularly arranged hollow-tube structures.
