Budded virions of the baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) can enter a variety of non-host cells. The capacity of GP64, AcMNPV's endogenous envelope fusion protein, and SeF, the fusion protein from a gp64(-) baculovirus, to mediate baculovirus entry into vertebrate cells was examined by comparing the transduction ...

Here, a naturally occurring baculovirus and a new biocontrol agent, NezhNPV, which infects a multivoltine forest pest, Nesodiprion zhejiangenis, was characterized by field efficacy trial, electron microscopy and genome sequencing. Abstract BACKGROUND Nesodiprion zhejiangensis, a multivoltine sawfly, is widely distributed in south China and has caused ...

The inhibitors of apoptosis of Epiphyas postvittana nucleopolyhedrovirus
In this study, four inhibitor of apoptosis genes (iaps) in the genome ofEpiphyas postvittananucleopolyhedrovirus (EppoMNPV) that are homologous toiap-1,iap-2,iap-3andiap-4genes of other baculoviruses have been identified. All fouriapgenes were sequenced and theiap-1andiap-2genes were shown to be functional inhibitors of apoptosis.

In vivo apoptosis induction and reduction of infectivity by an Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus p35− recombinant in hemocytes from the velvet bean caterpillar Anticarsia gemmatalis (Hübner) (Lepidoptera : Noctuidae) [PDF]
Baculoviruses have long been shown to regulate apoptosis in cultured insect cells. Recently, this phenomenon was also reported to occur in vivo, reinforcing the importance of apoptosis in insect immunity against viruses.

p13 from group II baculoviruses is a killing-associated gene [PDF]
p13 gene was first described in Leucania separata multinuclearpolyhedrosis virus (Ls-p13) several years ago, but the functionof P13 protein has not been experimentally investigated todate.
