A new Helicoverpa armigera Nucleopolyhedrovirus isolate from Heliothis peltigera (Denis & Schiffermuller) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Turkey

open access: yesTurkish journal of biology = Turk biyoloji dergisi, 2019
This study reports a new Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) isolated from Heliothis peltigera (Denis & Schiffermuller), collected in the vicinity of Adana, Turkey.

Promising Prodiginins Biological Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Prodiginins are a large family of at least 34 pyrrolic compounds, including the well‐studied red pigment prodigiosin. Prodiginins are produced by several microorganisms displaying broad biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiproliferative, and immunosuppressive activities.

Post-mortem incubation influences occlusion body production in nucleopolyhedrovirus-infected larvae of Spodoptera frugiperda

open access: yesBiological control (Print), 2019
The inefficient production of nucleopolyhedrovirus occlusion bodies (OBs) can limit the commercialization of virus-based insecticides. The production of OBs in SfMNPV-infected Spodoptera frugiperda fourth instars was compared among groups of larvae that ...

Recommended dosage and environmental risk assessment of insecticides registered on main pyralid borers in China

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2025.
Based on the registration information of insecticides for controlling the main pyralid borers, active ingredients with high dosages were identified and analyzed based on formulations and target pests. Additionally, the environmental risks on honeybees were assessed.

Impact of a nucleopolyhedrovirus bioinsecticide and selected synthetic insecticides on the abundance of insect natural enemies on maize in Southern Mexico

open access: yes, 2003
The impact of commonly used organophosphate (chlorpyrifos, methamidophos), carbamate (carbaryl), and pyrethroid (cypermethrin) insecticides on insect natural enemies was compared with that of a nucleopolyhedrovirus (Baculoviridae) of Spodoptera ...

Physical and genetic map of the Wiseana nucleopolyhedrovirus genome

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2000
Wiseana nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) is the major pathogen of the New Zealand endemic pasture pest, Wiseana spp. To characterize this potential biological control agent, the genome of a virus isolated from Wiseana signata was purified and cloned. The complete genome was cloned as BamHI or HindIII restriction fragments, which were mapped by Southern ...

The Function of TER94 of Spodoptera frugiperda 9 Cells When Infected With Invertebrate Iridescent Virus‐6

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 65, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT The 118 L protein in the envelope of the Invertebrate iridescent virus 6 (IIV6) is responsible for binding to receptors on the surface of permissive cells. We previously elucidated its function by silencing its gene and neutralizing the protein with antibodies.

The infectivity and host range of Orgyia anartoides nucleopolyhedrovirus

open access: yes, 2010
The painted apple moth (PAM), Teia anartoides (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) made a recent incursion into New Zealand. A nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV), Orgyia anartoides NPV (OranNPV), originally isolated from PAM in Australia, was tested for its ...

Co-infection with iflaviruses influences the insecticidal properties of Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus occlusion bodies: Implications for the production and biosecurity of baculovirus insecticides

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Biological insecticides based on Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV) can efficiently control S. exigua larvae on field and greenhouse crops in many parts of the world. Spanish wild populations and laboratory colonies of S. exigua are

Environmental factors affecting RNAi efficacy: Temperature but not plant cultivar influences Colorado potato beetle's response to insecticidal dsRNA

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 581-592, August 2025.
Colorado potato beetle's RNA interference (RNAi) response was enhanced when insecticidal dsactin was consumed at high temperatures. The enhanced RNAi outcomes at high temperatures were not a function of dose or the expression of core RNAi genes. The potato cultivar consumed by Colorado potato beetle larvae did not affect RNAi outcomes, but larvae did ...
