Characterization of a Chrysodeixis includens nucleopolyhedrovirus Isolate from Brazilian Cerrado and Assessment of its Co-Infection with Anticarsia gemmatalis multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2019
Chrysodeixis includens has become the major Lepidopteran pest of soybean crops, especially in the Brazilian Cerrado (savanna) region. A native isolate of Chrysodeixis includens nucleopolyhedrovirus (ChinNPV) from this region, Buritis, MG, was assessed ...

Promising Prodiginins Biological Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Prodiginins are a large family of at least 34 pyrrolic compounds, including the well‐studied red pigment prodigiosin. Prodiginins are produced by several microorganisms displaying broad biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiproliferative, and immunosuppressive activities.

Recommended dosage and environmental risk assessment of insecticides registered on main pyralid borers in China

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2025.
Based on the registration information of insecticides for controlling the main pyralid borers, active ingredients with high dosages were identified and analyzed based on formulations and target pests. Additionally, the environmental risks on honeybees were assessed.

A novel baculovirus-derived promoter with high activity in the baculovirus expression system [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2016
The baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) has been widely used to produce a large number of recombinant proteins, and is becoming one of the most powerful, robust, and cost-effective systems for the production of eukaryotic proteins.

The Function of TER94 of Spodoptera frugiperda 9 Cells When Infected With Invertebrate Iridescent Virus‐6

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 65, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT The 118 L protein in the envelope of the Invertebrate iridescent virus 6 (IIV6) is responsible for binding to receptors on the surface of permissive cells. We previously elucidated its function by silencing its gene and neutralizing the protein with antibodies.

Environmental factors affecting RNAi efficacy: Temperature but not plant cultivar influences Colorado potato beetle's response to insecticidal dsRNA

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 581-592, August 2025.
Colorado potato beetle's RNA interference (RNAi) response was enhanced when insecticidal dsactin was consumed at high temperatures. The enhanced RNAi outcomes at high temperatures were not a function of dose or the expression of core RNAi genes. The potato cultivar consumed by Colorado potato beetle larvae did not affect RNAi outcomes, but larvae did ...

Impact of light intensity on sugar maple leaf physical traits and consequences for caterpillar preference and performance

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 7, Page 684-695, July 2025.
This study examines the effects of light intensity on sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaf traits and interactions with insect herbivores. Leaves from sunlit saplings were thicker with lower specific leaf area, while caterpillar feeding preference and performance differed between species.

Genomic Sequencing and Analysis of Sucra jujuba Nucleopolyhedrovirus

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The complete nucleotide sequence of Sucra jujuba nucleopolyhedrovirus (SujuNPV) was determined by 454 pyrosequencing. The SujuNPV genome was 135,952 bp in length with an A+T content of 61.34%. It contained 131 putative open reading frames (ORFs) covering 87.9% of the genome.

Neuropeptide Ecdysis‐Triggering Hormone and Its Receptor Mediate the Fecundity Improvement of ‘Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus’‐Infected Diaphorina citri Females and CLas Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 18, May 15, 2025.
In CLas‐infected D. citri, CLas lowers 20E levels initially, relieving the suppression of ETH release. The subsequent increase in ETH levels upregulates its receptor DcETHR and activates the JH signaling pathway. The signaling cascade of 20E‐ETH/ETHR‐JH along with miR‐210, targeting DcETHR, boost female fecundity in CLas+ D.

Morphological characterization of baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus

open access: yesVirus Research, 2010
The budded form of baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus is used widely in biotechnological applications. In this study, we observed the morphology of baculovirus in nanometer scale by atomic force microscopy. Additionally, the correlation between transduction efficiency and virus stock storage time was evaluated.
