Induction of apoptosis in an insect cell line, IPLB-Ld652Y, infected with nucleopolyhedroviruses

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2003
Ld652Y cells derived from the gypsy moth, Lymantria dispar, were infected with seven different nucleopolyhedroviruses (NPVs) including those from Autographa californica, Bombyx mori (BmNPV), Hyphantria cunea (HycuNPV), Spodoptera exigua (SeMNPV), L. dispar, Orgyia pseudotsugata (OpMNPV) and Spodoptera litura (SpltMNPV).

Transmission of a Gammabaculovirus within Cohorts of Balsam Fir Sawfly (Neodiprion abietis) Larvae

open access: yesInsects, 2012
Nucleopolyhedroviruses (NPV: Gammabaculovirus: Baculoviridae) of diprionid sawflies (Diprionidae: Hymenoptera) are highly host specific and only infect the midgut epithelium.

New cell lines from Ephestia kuehniella: Characterization and susceptibility to baculoviruses

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 2004
New cell lines from embryos of Ephestia kuehniella were recently developed. Primary cultures were initiated in September 2002 from 2 to 4 day old eggs in either modified TC-100 or Ex-Cell 400 medium.

N-Glycan Modification of a Recombinant Protein via Coexpression of Human Glycosyltransferases in Silkworm Pupae

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Recombinant proteins produced in insect cells and insects, unlike those produced in mammalian cells, have pauci-mannose-type N-glycans. In this study, we examined complex-type N-glycans on recombinant proteins via coexpression of human β-1,2-N ...

Molecular biology of baculovirus and its use in biological control in Brazil Biologia molecular de baculovírus e seu uso no controle biológico de pragas no Brasil

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 1999
Baculoviruses are insect viruses found mainly in Lepidoptera. The family Baculoviridae is taxonomically divided in two genera, Nucleopolyhedrovirus and Granulovirus, which differ by occlusion body morphology.

Harnessing Chelonus inanitus for efficient Spodoptera spp. management: Learning about production to explore roles in Baculovirus transmission

open access: yesBiological Control
Control of Spodoptera spp. (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) crop pests has traditionally relied on heavy insecticide use. Baculoviruses (BV) from the genera Alphabaculovirus and Betabaculovirus offer effective, species-specific alternatives for managing their ...

Comparative analysis of the genomes of Rachiplusia ou and Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedroviruses

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2003
The Rachiplusia ou multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (RoMNPV) is a variant of Autographa californica MNPV (AcMNPV) but is significantly more virulent against several major agricultural pests. The genome sequence of the R1 strain of RoMNPV was determined and compared to that of AcMNPV strain C6.

Synergism between the nucleopolyhedroviruses of Autographa californica and Trichoplusia ni.

open access: yesActa virologica, 2004
Previous observations on high virulence of Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) and Trichoplusia ni single nucleopolyhedrovirus (TnSNPV) acting together led us to test possible synergism between these two nucleopolyhedroviruses (NPVs) on cabbage looper larvae.

Comparative analysis of the complete genome sequences of Helicoverpa zea and Helicoverpa armigera single-nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedroviruses

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2002
The complete nucleotide sequence of Helicoverpa zea single-nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (HzSNPV) has been determined (130869 bp) and compared to the nucleotide sequence of Helicoverpa armigera (Ha) SNPV. These two genomes are very similar in their nucleotide (97% identity) and amino acid (99% identity) sequences.

Molecular analysis of the p48 gene of Choristoneura fumiferana multicapsid nucleopolyhedroviruses CfMNPV and CfDEFNPV.

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1999
Attempts were made to linearize the DNA of Choristoneura fumiferana (Cf) multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (MNPV), in order to improve the efficiency of generation of recombinant viruses after transfection. A unique site for the restriction enzyme Sse83871 was found in ORF p48.
