Phase Diagrams and Piezoelectric Properties of Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN Heterostructural Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ferroelectricity and piezoelectric properties improvement of quaternary wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films, guided by density functional theory calculations. Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films have a high optical bandgap, enhanced piezoelectric ...

Evaluation of the WRF-CMAQ Model Performances on Air Quality in China with the Impacts of the Observation Nudging on Meteorology

open access: yesAerosol and Air Quality Research, 2022
Accurate meteorological fields are imperative for correct air quality modeling through their influence on the various chemical species in the atmosphere. In this study, the simulations from the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model were conducted

Zonally symmetric adjustment in the presence of artificial relaxation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Numerical experiments, presented in a companion paper, have been performed in which the zonal-mean state of the stratosphere in a comprehensive, stratosphere-resolving, general circulation model is strongly relaxed (or “nudged”) toward the evolution of a

Real Nudge

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Risk Regulation, 2012
The novelty in Adam Burgess’ paper is that he assesses nudge policies in the context of the shift in the UK government's approach to risk from the nannying policies of Labour to the nudge policies of the Conservatives. There is a wealth of ideas in this paper. I find it useful to disentangle some of these ideas focusing on the following two questions:1.

Orientation‐Confinement‐Engineered Stabilization of Ferroelectricity in HfO2 toward Maximum Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric phase stability in Hf₀.5Zr₀.5O2 films is enhanced by confinement to the (111) crystal orientation, as demonstrated by first‐principles calculations and experiments. Polarization approaching its maximum value is achieved through selective ferroelectric switching paths, which are further tuned by oxygen vacancies and cation doping to ...

Reducing the number of templates for aligned-spin compact binary coalescence gravitational wave searches using metric-agnostic template nudging

open access: yes, 2018
Efficient multi-dimensional template placement is crucial in computationally intensive matched-filtering searches for Gravitational Waves (GWs). Here, we implement the Neighboring Cell Algorithm (NCA) to improve the detection volume of an existing ...

Outstanding 1200 °C Oxidation Resistance in a Novel Multi‐Principal Element Alloy via Lattice Distortion‐Induced Diffusion Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The unique lamellar structure of the eutectic alloy promotes selective oxidation of Al initially, while lattice distortion‐induced diffusion suppression slows oxide growth during steady state. Combining these strategies, a Multi‐Principal Element Alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at 1200℃ was designed.

An assessment of particle filtering methods and nudging for climate state reconstructions [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2013
Using the climate model of intermediate complexity LOVECLIM in an idealised framework, we assess three data-assimilation methods for reconstructing the climate state. The methods are a nudging, a particle filter with sequential importance resampling, and

A Si‐MoSe2 Heterostructured Anode with Enhanced Thermal Transport and Electrochemical Performance for Liquid and All‐Solid‐State Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chemically bonded Si@MoSe2@C heterointerfaces with robust Si─Se─Mo bonds enable high‐performance Si anodes. Lattice‐matched MoSe2 on porous Si with carbon‐protective coating delivers 1054 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles and 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 400 cycles.
