Nuisance insects and climate change [PDF]
Changes in ecology, climate and human behaviour over recent decades have favoured the development and increased prevalence of urban pests, including nuisance insects.

On Root-N Consistency of Estimators for Nuisance Parameters of Asymptotic Optimal Tests: The I.I.D Case ( Abreviated Title: Root-N Consistency of Estimator) [PDF]
With suitable regularity conditions on the density func-tion, any estimator ein for the nuisance parameters ei which are root-n consistent under the null hypothesis Ho:w=0 are shown to be also root--n consistent for any sequence of alterna-tives (wn ...

Bayesian Active Learning in the Presence of Nuisance Parameters [PDF]
In many settings, such as scientific inference, optimization, and transfer learning, the learner has a well-defined objective, which can be treated as estimation of a target parameter, and no intrinsic interest in characterizing the entire data ...

Prolonged exposure to odour emissions causes annoyance which leads to nuisance and consequently to complaints. Different methodologies exist in the literature to evaluate odour impacts, but not all are suitable to assess environmental odour nuisance ...

Identifying Individual Camera Device From RAW Images
This paper investigates the problem of identifying the individual imaging device source of the same model from a natural image in RAW format. We propose an enhanced Poissonian-Gaussian model describing the distribution of pixels from a RAW image.

Conditional Inference with a Functional Nuisance Parameter [PDF]
This paper shows that the problem of testing hypotheses in moment condition models without any assumptions about identification may be considered as a problem of testing with an infinite-dimensional nuisance parameter. We introduce a sufficient statistic for this nuisance parameter and propose conditional tests.

Redatuming physical systems using symmetric autoencoders
This paper considers physical systems described by hidden states and indirectly observed through repeated measurements corrupted by unmodeled nuisance parameters.

Analysis of comparable academic performance: panel logistic regression model
Conditional logistic regression model is fitted to data of student academic performance. This enables one to compare difficulties of different examinations and to identify related factors.

Testing Normal Means: The Reconcilability of the P Value and the Bayesian Evidence
The problem of reconciling the frequentist and Bayesian evidence in testing statistical hypotheses has been extensively studied in the literature. Most of the existing work considers cases without the nuisance parameters which is not the frequently ...

Noise nuisance is a complex problem of modern cities, which has objective, measurable parameters as well, but there is an “experienced”, subjectively perceived phenomenon for the individuals and society for the disturbing effect of noise.
