The null divergence factor [PDF]

open access: yesPublicacions Matemàtiques, 1997
Let (P,Q) be a C1 vectorfield defined in a open subset U ⊂ R2. We call a null divergence factor a C1 solution V (x, y) of the equation P ∂V ∂x + Q∂V ∂y = ∂P ∂x + ∂Q ∂y V . In previous works it has been shown that this function plays a fundamental role in the problem of the center and in the determination of the limit cycles.

On the Relationship between Two Notions of Compatibility for Bi-Hamiltonian Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bi-Hamiltonian structures are of great importance in the theory of integrable Hamiltonian systems. The notion of compatibility of symplectic structures is a key aspect of bi-Hamiltonian systems.

Mesons in the nuclear Medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss recent experimental results on the modification of hadron properties in a nuclear medium. Particular emphasis is placed on an $\omega$ production experiment performed by the CBELSA/TAPS collaboration at the ELSA accelerator.

Hadron Blind Detector for the PHENIX Experiment at RHIC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The PHENIX collaboration has designed a conceptually new Hadron Blind Detector (HBD) for electron identification in high density hadron environment. The HBD will identify low momentum electron-positron pairs to reduce the combinatorial background in the ...

A Pilot Study of Nulling in 22 Pulsars Using Mixture Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The phenomenon of pulsar nulling, observed as the temporary inactivity of a pulsar, remains poorly understood both observationally and theoretically. Most observational studies that quantify nulling employ a variant of Ritchings (1976)'s algorithm which can suffer significant biases for pulsars where the emission is weak.
