Overt pronouns in null subject languages: an experimental investigation of Kashubian, Polish, and Silesian

open access: yesLinguistics
Interpretive differences between overt subject pronouns relative to null subject pronouns are commonly considered a defining property of Consistent Null Subject Languages (CNSLs), in contradistinction to Partial Null Subject Languages (PNSLs).

Generalized asymptotics for gauge fields

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
An interesting question is to characterize the general class of allowed boundary conditions for gauge theories, including gravity, at spatial and null infinity. This has played a role in discussions of soft charges, where antipodal symmetry has typically

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

I clitici “soggetto” occitani comparati con i sistemi della Romània continua: il parametro del soggetto nullo e i residui di sintassi V2

open access: yesAtti del Sodalizio Glottologico Milanese, 2019
Practically all Romance languages have complement clitic pronouns which basically replace the arguments of a verb. Only a sub-area of Romance, extending from France through northern Italy to the Adriatic Sea, also has subject clitics, connected to the ...

Identifying Null Arguments with Ellipsis

open access: yesStudies in Generative Grammar, 2013
Korean allows the null argument construction. In the literature there has been a debate on whether the null argument involves ellipsis (the ellipsis approach) or pro, which can be construed as a bare nominal (the pro approach). In this squib, we argue, following Park and Bae (2012), that the null argument can also involve ellipsis, presenting some new ...

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

The Copy Theory of Control and the Analysis of Finite Control

open access: yesLanguages
Under the Markovian property of derivations the history of the derivation is not preserved in the current state, hence chains cannot be read off it.

Dual native G‐quadruplex folding is associated with chromatin looping at the MYC locus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BG4‐detectable G‐quadruplex (G4) in HaCaT and NHEK keratinocytes identified folded and unfolded G4s enriched at promoters/TSSs and active enhancers, whereas unfolded G4s also overlapped weak/poised enhancers. At MYC–PVT1, 3C‐qPCR detected enhancer–promoter looping only when G4s were simultaneously folded at both regulatory elements under native ...

Non-minimal coupling of scalar and gauge fields with gravity: an entropy current and linearized second law

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
This work extends the proof of a local version of the linearized second law involving an entropy current with non-negative divergence by including the arbitrary non-minimal coupling of scalar and U(1) gauge fields with gravity.
