A string theory which isn’t about strings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Quantization of closed string proceeds with a suitable choice of worldsheet vacuum. A priori, the vacuum may be chosen independently for left-moving and right-moving sectors.

On some differences between number fields and function fields

open access: yes, 2016
The analogy between the arithmetic of varieties over number fields and the arithmetic of varieties over function fields is a leading theme in arithmetic geometry. This analogy is very powerful but there are some gaps.

Some Properties of Euler’s Function and of the Function τ and Their Generalizations in Algebraic Number Fields

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we find some inequalities which involve Euler’s function, extended Euler’s function, the function τ, and the generalized function τ in algebraic number fields.

Finiteness theorems for algebraic tori over function fields

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2021
We present a number of finiteness results for algebraic tori (and, more generally, for algebraic groups with toric connected component) over two classes of fields: finitely generated fields and function fields of algebraic varieties over fields of type ...

Wind turbine load validation in wakes using wind field reconstruction techniques and nacelle lidar wind retrievals [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2021
This study proposes two methodologies for improving the accuracy of wind turbine load assessment under wake conditions by combining nacelle-mounted lidar measurements with wake wind field reconstruction techniques.

Some Properties of Extended Euler’s Function and Extended Dedekind’s Function

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
In this paper, we find some properties of Euler’s function and Dedekind’s function. We also generalize these results, from an algebraic point of view, for extended Euler’s function and extended Dedekind’s function, in algebraic number fields ...

Reducing pesticides without organic certification? Potentials and limits of an intermediate form of agricultural production

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2023
A growing number of farmers’ cooperatives cultivate crops without chemical pesticides, but also without organic certification. How does this intermediate form of agriculture between conventional and organic production function?

Class numbers of cyclotomic function fields [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1986
Using results of Galovich and Rosen the plus and minus factors for the class number of the cyclotomic function field associated with irreducibles of degree three and four over the field with three elements are computed. As a consequence it is shown that the analogue to a result of Kummer on the p-divisibility of these factors is false.

PARAMETRIC GEOMETRY OF NUMBERS IN FUNCTION FIELDS [PDF]

open access: yesMathematika, 2017
20 pages, the proof of a central lemma is simplified and the main construction is shown to be universal.

Free W*-Dynamical Systems From p-Adic Number Fields and the Euler Totient Function

open access: yesMathematics, 2015
In this paper, we study relations between free probability on crossed product W * -algebras with a von Neumann algebra over p-adic number fields
