Toward Abstract Numerical Analysis
Journal of the ACM, 1973This paper deals with a technique for proving that certain problems of numerical analysis are numerically unsolvable. So that only methods which are natural for dealing with analytic problems may be presented, notions from recursive function theory have been avoided.

Analysis of Nets by Numerical Methods
Journal of the ACM, 1960The assignment of prime numbers to the branches of directed or non-directed nets, enables one to construct transition matrices in a numerical, rather than a symbolic, form. The numerical form greatly facilitates the construction of higher-order transition matrices, needed for the topological analysis of a given net.

AbstractIn this article, we touch on a few selected topics illustrating the interplay between computational statistics and numerical analysis. Rather than briefly reviewing a long array of methods, on one hand we place emphasis on problems, such as stochastic optimization, which require the joint application of several techniques; on the other hand, we

In the context of Performance Evaluation (PE), numerical analysis methods refer to those methods which work with a Markov chain representation of the system under evaluation and use techniques from the domain of numerical analysis to compute stationary and/or transient state probabilities or other measures of interest.
