Numerical modelling of hydraulic fracturing in naturally fractured rock
This thesis presents a novel approach for hydro-geomechanical modelling of fractured rocks by linking a solid mechanics model with a multi-fluids and multi-phase fluid flow model using the immersed-body approach for coupling fluids and solids. The method uses conservative mesh-to-mesh projection to pass variables between an mesh adapting multi-phase ...

Numerical integration of an advanced Gurson model for shear loading: Application to the blanking process [PDF]
A new extension of the Gurson damage model has been proposed recently to predict ductile fracture under shear dominated loads. The aim of this work is to verify the ability of this approach to simulate, in an accurate way, the damage evolution in ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Numerical Modelling of Settlement Compensation by Means of Fracture Grouting
Displacement grouting is increasingly used as a corrective measure to control settlements of buildings induced by near surface excavations such as tunnelling (compensation grouting) or when structures have to be re-levelled because unacceptable (differential) settlements have occurred (corrective grouting).

Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Numerical modeling of hydro-mechanical fracture behavior [PDF]
A numerical approach for modeling coupled hydro-mechanical fracture behavior is proposed. The movement of fluids through rock fractures is important in many engineering areas of practical interest such as those ones of petroleum and mining engineering. In that context, one of the most investigated and complex subjects is the effect on well productivity
