An algorithm for higher order finite difference schemes to nonlinear differential equations with the property that the numerical scheme has a group structure similar to the original problem is presented. This avoids separate verification of stability of the numerical scheme which may be very complex for usual analysis.

Wing design by numerical optimization
Aircraft Systems and Technology Meeting, 1977A study was conducted to assess the feasibility of performing computerized wing design by numerical optimization. The design program combined a full potential, inviscid aerodynamics code with a conjugate gradient optimization algorithm. Three design problems were selected to demonstrate the design technique.

Numerical Winglet Optimization

The method use s the output from four potential -flow solutions in the Trefftz plane well behind the lifting surfaces.
