Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Experimental Validation of a Robust [FO-PID]λ Controller

open access: yesMathematics
Fractional order controllers are more frequently encountered in industrial applications due to their robustness and the improved performance they offer to the system.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A numerical method for the solution of plane crack problems in finite media

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1980
A general method for the solution of plane isotropic elasticity crack problems inside a finite medium of arbitrary shape or an infinite medium with holes of arbitrary shape is presented.

Application of the Front-Fixing Method to Numerical Modeling of Field Diffusion in Nonlinear Systems

open access: yes, 2009
Application of a finite volume front-fixing method to a thermistor problem with strongly nonlinear material properties is discussed. Advantages and implementation problems of the method are highlighted.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
