Water Contact Angle Reveals pH‐Conditioning‐Enabled Single Molecule at a Large Surface Sensing Mechanisms

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 9, September 2026.
A physisorbed anti‐IgG layer is investigated through Water Contact Angle measurements to assess the impact of pH conditioning. The results show that exposure to acidic environments alters surface wettability, with a marked decrease observed upon antigen binding, thus linking conformational rearrangements to single‐molecule sensing.

Detection of Antibiotic-Resistance by MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry: An Expanding Area

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2020
Several MALDI-TOF MS-based methods have been proposed for rapid detection of antimicrobial resistance. The most widely studied methods include assessment of β-lactamase activity by visualizing the hydrolysis of the β-lactam ring, detection of biomarkers ...

Toward Sustainable Carbonylation Reactions Enabled by CO Surrogates in Green Solvents

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Carbonylation reactions offer a sustainable route to valuable carbonyl compounds. This review highlights methodologies that exploit carbonylative coupling to drastically enhance process sustainability, avoiding the direct use of CO through CO surrogates and promoting syntheses in green solvents potentially derived from renewable and sustainable sources.

Assessing naturalness of coastal dune ecosystems through community (citizen) science: A protocol for Mediterranean beaches

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 3, July–September 2026.
A standardized citizen science protocol enabled trained secondary school students to collect reliable data on beach and coastal dune naturalness across Italy. The method provides a scalable and cost‐effective tool to support ecological assessment, identify vulnerable sites and inform coastal conservation and management.

Fecal Proteomics Suggest Potential Biomarkers for Non‐Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Steatohepatitis

open access: yesPROTEOMICS – Clinical Applications, Volume 20, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and aims Non‐alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) affects about a quarter of the world's population. Liver biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosing the progressive form of NAFLD called Non‐alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) but it is invasive, prone to sampling errors and observer variability, and impractical for widespread ...
